Not so... while I can support some of the goals of the tea party... the actual reality of what has been put in place where they hold a legislative majority is a completely different reality. I will say Democrats have an exactly similar problem. Keep in mind that the Democrats got voted out of power in North Carolina after 100 years because our population could no longer put up with their total corruption - which led to dozens of them being indicted by the Feds including former governor Easley and all of the Democratic legislative leaders.
I have always respected Will and Ariel Durant. The Story of Civilization set is sitting on my large desk.
A pretty meaningless administrative step to make a fuss about. Well over 99% of single "able bodied" adults with no dependents SNAP (food stamp) recipients already have part-time jobs. I expect this is also already true of the 12,000 in Maine who meet the standard. Most are simply in such low paying jobs (e.g. working for Walmart) that they meet the qualifications for SNAP. I will also note that Maine is simply getting aligned with federal law regarding this and eliminating their waiver. This is really a non-story except for the political optics. Is paying SNAP benefits to over 50% of Walmart's work force actually a form of corporate welfare?
If by some slim chance the TPs ever do ascend to the throne, I'm afraid their supporters are going to be awfully disappointed. See French Revolution, Bolshevik Revolution, any of the Chinese Revolutions.
Sadly, I do not have the set nor have I read even most of it. The book I mentioned is just a slim volume, the "lessons". I'm sure the quote refers to most revolutions.
