This law is needed to codify the Supreme Court decision. Otherwise the woke colleges and universities will do their best to continue the discrimination.
My oldest is now visiting colleges. Took her to my Alma mater, which required a 1250 SAT to even be considered in the late 1990s, and now the SATs are optional and carry little to no weight. Most of the colleges we visited are doing away or diminishing the SATs. As predicted of course. Now the thing is community service and volunteering is weighted higher than SATs on applications. FYI: GPA and class rank are still at the top weight of the application.
The SC says schools can factor in life experience.Considering Black and Brown people usually are less wealthy and have harder lives than Whites and Asians the law cannot be codified. Life experience can be used to justify most Black and Brown students acceptance. The legacy and donate millions of dollars for my brat to get into a good school is the discrimination that needs to stop.
This helps schools that want to let more athletes, people of color and children of alumni, and screws over the high aptitude students who don't have those kinds of connections. Bad idea.
I came across the same thing this past summer when my two youngest teens, my ex-spouse, and I traveled across the United States to visit the admission offices of many universities. wrbtrader
