I said before that Boehner and his crowd would back down if obama threatened a government shutdown and it looks like I was right. As if anyone doubted me. This sets the stage for open revolt led by Bachman and her Tea Party irregulars. http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/02/john-boehner-no-on-shutdown-yes-on-entitlement-reform.html
the american people handed him a chance to lead us to fiscal conservatism and instead we are going to have to disassemble his party. Which could leave democrats in control. he will be seen as the worst leader in history.

It's just a 2 week extension. The two-week peace is only temporary but gives House and Senate leaders through Mar 18 to try to resolve conservative demands for more than $60 billion in spending cuts, all concentrated in the second half of this fiscal year. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/50197.html#ixzz1FDJz9cBj
Exactly. Its a strategy. They're going to sell Obama small extensions with a large budget cut in each of them. Its the reason the republicans loaded the main budget bill with every cut imaginable knowing Obama would not sign it. Then they will offer small extension resolutions and get concessions from Obama and the senate multiple times right up to the election. Its the Dick Morris strategy.
60 billion Wow now that's a drastic cut ,good to see congress really getting serious about curbing spending
I'm surprised the Tea Party Representatives went along with slashing it from $100 billion. The Dems still aren't going to go for it so in two weeks you'll get your gov. shutdown. If not, it will be time to kick Boehner's ass all over Capitol Hill if he caves then.
