Please completely read my post that you quoted. I said there was no excuse for what he did... However, he was not the only one to suffer at the “handiwork” of the other side.
If we digress to discussing an entire group instead of focusing on what the scumbag Republican did to peddle an outlandish lie, it would derail the entire thread and go nowhere. I am not a Bernie supporter, if a Bernie supporter shot Scalise, why is that relevant on my thread?
Meh, let’s spend our energy elsewhere than getting into scope arguments. Democrats, Left, Radical Left, Bernie supporter, crazed Radical Left, crazed anti 2nd amendment crazy Radical Left who shoots politician who supports second amendment, guy. My point is what the guy in question did was wrong, but given the circumstances, it would not be unreasonable for people to accept his apology.
Scalise isn't apologizing though, he is still claiming Biden said 'defunding' when he did not, he took down the video because he was called out by the disabled dude and it was too shameful to keep it up.
By the way, your hyprocracy is showing again. Is not forcing people to give special consideration to those who are disadvantaged a foundational basis of Democrats gaining political power?
What 'hyprocracy'? The issue here is Scalise MANIPULATING a video by adding words that someone never said, he took advantage of a disabled guy who couldn't speak for himself, what has any of your comment got to do with power? There is nothing wrong with giving equal opportunity to all, not sure what your rant is about.
I apologize for giving incorrect information regarding Scalise’s supposed apology. I had misread the following from wikipedia.org: In 2020 Scalise spread a doctored video appearing to depict the political activist Ady Barkan, who uses a speech-generating device, asking Joe Biden if he supported defunding police, to which Biden appeared to reply in the affirmative. Barkan demanded Scalise delete the video, which was flagged by Twitter as a hoax, and apologize. Scalise's spokeswoman Lauren Fine falsely claimed the video was in keeping with "common practice".[80][81] See alsoEdit I saw the word “apologize” and thought Scalise did so. Scalise is a shit if he does not apologize and should be censured by the House and the Republican Party. Maybe something more than censure if he does not apologize and explain himself. Let’s see how much of a leader Trump is on this issue. Blind loyalty or demand accountability? The underlining of the last line was mine. I didn’t notice this before. We see the quality of the company Scalise keeps. His people’s first reaction is to double down on his lies? Thinking about this some more, there are fewer more depraved things than to purposely alter what someone says in such a way that sounds like they said it, for political gain. The person who behaves in this way is the least deserving of political power possible. This guy needs to go for the Republicans to salvage some credibility. Apology or no apology.
I’m withdrawing from this line of reasoning because you are right, the issue of video manipulation is the only thing relevant now. Thanks for keeping at me on this issue.
“A series of deceptively edited and misleading videos shared by prominent Republicans have run up millions of views across Facebook and Twitter in just the past few days,” CNN reports. “And while both companies have pledged to combat misinformation, their responses to these videos followed a familiar pattern: often they act too late, do too little, or don’t do anything at all.”
One consolation is the “Millions of views” included people seeing what a POS Scalise is. Let’s think about ways to make these scumbags think twice before pulling sleazy sheet. The following are some ideas I’ve come up with so far: 1. Tie in those who have the authority to discipline Scalise or who associate with him such as campaign donors with the idea they obviously condone his behavour because they do nothing about it. Consider calls for boycotts of Scalise’s campaign donors as appropriate. 2. Regularly remind people what Scalise did by interviewing his victim from time to time and on different subjects to keep the event fresh in people’s minds, without getting too repetitive. 3. Create documentaries and stories of a wider scope and use Scalise the sleaze as an example of someone ethically challeged. 4. Become aware of significant events such as book signings and reelection and release reminders what he did accordingly. 5. A guy like Scalise is sure to have skeletons in his closet. Try to find them. 6. Find out what Scalise’s weaknesses are and set him up without violating the law in order to further diminish his standing. 7. Conduct political opinion polls in Scalise’s district that specifically ask people what they think of the Scalise Scandal while answering questions or otherwise informing them about the scandal. Although Scalise may be strong in his district, the scandal may make him vulnerable to coordinated effort. Being able to implement most of the above assumes utilization of campaign workers and other resources from the party. Gaining feedback from participants in a campaign like this will help craft a well honed method to diminish Scalise and to use against others that deserve it. Many of the things I listed above have been done before, but are generally not very well coordinated in my opinion. Also, based on what I’ve seen of Democrat campaign workers and their leaders, they are not the most organized or efficient. The key is to have the resources and trained campaign workers who are ready to strike the scandal while it’s hot and then again when the miscreant is up for reelection. If the mainstream media had more credibility, a scandal such as this one would have more impact against Scalise. Maybe enough for him to call it quits. In order to deter unethical conduct, we must create certainty in the minds of the morally challenged, their leadership, and their sponsors that damage will be swift and deep.
