I mean, look at Mittens. He is so white, that younger white women say he is TOO white. All starched up. Richie Rich. Gordon Gekko. He was too far removed from the American people almost at BIRTH. An old rich white guy wants to tell us all what to do. One more time. THE GOP IS JUST PLAIN STUPID.
This is a standard liberal theme. "if only the evil republicnas could be more like us." Well, we're not like you. We don;t want to be. And what about all those high-minded calls for principle over politics? Do those only apply to liberals as well? The republicans are hopeless because they won't abandon their principles, principles which won them the presidency five out of the last eight elections, for the fad of the day? The article and guys like RCG may be right. Demographics may doom the republican party. We are fast becoming a third world nation. Half the population doesn't pay income taxes. Most of them see no shame in expecting the other half to support them. Shame, what a joke. They are angry they don't get more. The idea, long accepted as obvious, that we are a Christian nation built by european immigrants, now qualifies as hate speech. Similarly, traditional values that were long seen as the underpinning of the country, things like marriage, respect for the law and personal responsibility, are either mocked as hopelessly out of date or attacked as signs of bigotry. We have a population that has been dumbed down significantly. SAT scores confirmed that so relentlessly that the company doing the testing had to change the test to make comparisions more difficult. I read that over half the Fairfax Virginia school system's students come from homes where english is not the first language. The system, one of the nation's richest, faces an enormous problem of educating children who don't speak english. How good an education are American kids getting in such a system, which has long been regarded as one of the best in the country? Can you imagine what is happening in crappy systems with less resources? The republican party is sinking under a sea of third world immigration. It's partially a self-inflicted wound. Why they wouldn't make it a priority to stop and reverse that is beyond me. I know one thing. The republican party can never be successful by trying to emulate the democrats. Why buy a copy when you can get the real thng? In politics, something usually beats nothing, even if the nothing is charming and is good with a teleprompter.
For an idiot with a history of calling anyone and everyone racist, you sure are obsessed with skin color, moRon.
Great post, AAA. It is really good to get thinkers from the right. Now, the solution for your party. Reagan already gave it, whom I admire as a man ahead of his time. Mittens would veto the Dream Act. Reagan would never have been so stupid as to say this. Now mind you, my minority is now 12 percent of the population. We can decide things, but we can initiate nothing. AAA, your party, if you believe in them, must accept demographic change and seek to guide it. Did you know Julian Castro predicts Texas will be a SWING state soon? He is right, and you know it. The sane GOP was trying get out in front of this, but the crazies took over. AAA, if you want your values implemented, you must FIRST realize that that these values apply to EVERYBODY. The GOP divorced itself from this. They dug their own grave, they were given a winning playbook and they threw it in the dumpster.
aaa is in alternate reality as usual. the great republican leaders of the past were pragmatic leaders. what we have now are crazy religious ideologs: Reagan has become a sainted figure within the GOP who, not incidentally, is the most successful and popular of the party's modern presidents. But the Reagan reverie will doubtless overlook much of the Reagan reality. As president, the conservative icon approved several tax increases to deal with a soaring budget deficit, repeatedly boosted the nation's debt limit, signed into law a bill granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants and, despite his anti-Washington rhetoric, oversaw an increase in the size and spending of the federal government. Before that, as California governor, he enacted what at the time was the largest state tax increase in American history. He also signed into law one of the nation's most permissive abortion bills; any Republican who tried that today would be cast out of the party. The fact that Reagan often took the actions grudgingly speaks to what, by modern Republican standards, may be one of the greatest heresies of all: At bottom, Reagan was a pragmatist, willing, when necessary, to cut a deal and compromise. "He had a strong set of core values and operated off of those," said Stuart Spencer, a GOP strategist who stood by Reagan's side for virtually his entire political career, starting with his first run for governor. "But when push came to shove, he did various things he didn't like doing, because he knew it was in the best interests of the state or country at the time."
Hispanics vote 2:1 democrat. i see no reason for that to improve. So why would republicans want more of them here? Ironically, african americans are bearing the brunt of this invasion of hispanics. They are the ones who are losing jobs. But they stupidly support a party whose avowed goal is to bring in as many hispanics as possible and to give amnesty to those here illegally. Tell me how that helps AA's.
I remember leftists saying the same thing after the 2008 election. How did that 2010 election work out for Dems?
