to your first point, if it weren't watered down and "blocked" (though how republicans could block it when the house, senate and president were all democrat is beyond me) it would be even worse than it is now. and that is saying something. to your second point, once again, you're thinking too linear. removing one group doesnt indicate a particular result. the fact of the matter is the majority of the people of the country do not want obamacare, and the elected officials are the ones put there to execute the wishes of their constituents. ergo, it should not have been passed.
The dems would have no one left to pay for all their entitlements because they would have chased every single business, and every single job out of the country.
If that's necessarily true, then it follows that we will be unable to find any other country in the world, with businesses and jobs, that is more "socialistic" than ours.
You and i both know that if democrats were left completely unchecked by republicans, that taxes, and spending on social programs would be drastically higher, and yes, the democrats would have chased out or destroyed, most big businesses that were in the country. Its not as if unions have a very positive record, of not bankrupting cities and businesses, and America. The same could be said about things like the environment, or a other areasif republicans were left completely unchecked by democrats, there is a balance in having 2 parties so it was a dumb argument on Vhehns part, thats all i was pointing out. If the debate only had 2 people arguing further and further to the same side, it would end in destruction either way the argument went, Republicans would keep going till taxes were at zero, and Dems would keep going till they were at 100% and full blown communism.
