republican wtf statement of the day

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Free Thinker, Apr 12, 2011.

  1. likely presidential candidate Rick Santroum said this about healthcare for everyone:

“Think about how they view you,” he told the crowd of Republicans. “They view you no different than the drug dealer views the little kid in the school yard. They want to get you hooked, they want to get you dependent. They want to get you relying upon them for your wellbeing. And once they’ve satisfied you, giving them that drug, that narcotic, then you’ll be reliant on them and, by the way, you’ll also be less than what God created you to be.”

translation. good healthcare is bad because you might become addicted to good health and god wants you to just suck it up and enjoy your suffering.

actually, this is more like Tinkerbell's WTF statement of the day (a daily jolly we all get to read).

i didnt click on your link, but i dont need to in order to understand the context of the statement. the speaker is referring to government trying to get you addicted to all of the entitlements of the system so that you become dependent on it and never want smaller government. it's quite obvious to anyone over 80 IQ.

That was my take on it as well. Tinkerbell needs to broaden his "qwest" for more damning views of all things conservative.

    lol!

    qwest.

the frequent spelling errors wouldnt be nearly as funny without the moniker "free thinker".

  5. man you are a deep thinker. the government it trying to get everyone good healthcare. thats bad because it might be addictive?

and you are a shallow one.

obviously there is a fundamental difference in who both sides view should be responsible for providing people healthcare. the right and libertarians believe people should be responsible for providing themselves healthcare. the left believe the government should.

"good" or "bad" healthcare is an opinion only. neither one of us is going to prove one or the other with any facts.

what the speaker is arguing is that government is trying to get everyone on to yet another entitlement. as they continue to get people on entitlements, it is analogous to giving drugs to the people in the manner in which people get dependent on both (drugs and entitlements). and when you have to remove either from the system, the patient is vehemently opposed to the removal.

  7. so to a deep thinker like yourself the fact that almost 50 million anericans cant get health insurance under the current system is not enough evidence that the system is broken?

i did not say anywhere that the current system was not broken. but that doesnt mean the new obamacare system is an acceptable fix.

your thinking is too linear, that's your overall problem. maybe a moniker change to that effect is in order?

  9. no. it probably isnt a great fix. but it could have been had it not been for republicans blocking and forcing it to be watered down.

a thinking person might ask themselves two questions. what happens if democrats are eliminated from the system. the answer would be republicans like this guy would continue the broken system.
now lets ask ourselves what would happen if republicans were eliminated from the system. we would probably have a single payer system for all financed by a payroll tax. so it is republicans that are the problem standing in the way of a solution.

    Agreed.
