A Henderson woman accused of trying to vote twice this week said today that she is eager to tell her side of the story. Roxanne Rubin, 56 and a registered Republican, was arrested Friday on a felony charge of voter fraud. "I really want to talk to you because I am not crazy," Rubin said when reached by a Sun reporter on her cellphone â a number she provided to poll workers the second time she tried to vote Monday. "But I'm really unable to talk until I meet with my lawyer." Rubin is accused of voting at an early-voting location in Henderson on Monday morning. She raised poll workers' attention there when she commented to another voter that she "signed differently and they didn't check my ID," according to arrest documents released today. Poll workers described a petite woman in her 50s with striking red hair. According to arrest documents, Rubin's signature at the Henderson voting location matched her voter registration card, evidence used by investigators to back up their claim it was indeed Rubin who cast a ballot and not someone else. Rubin then went to a second polling location on Eastern Avenue. When she attempted to sign in, poll workers were alerted by their computer system that she had already voted. Rubin complained that the poll workers at the first location had made a mistake and insisted she be allowed to vote. Poll workers refused to let her vote. Rubin then gave them her cellphone number and asked them to call her when she was allowed to vote, according to the arrest documents. They said they were signed up by Culinary Local 226. They speak and understand enough English to get by. But they don't read English especially well. They say the Culinary official who registered them to vote didn't tell them what they were signing and didn't ask whether they were citizens. The immigrants said they trusted that the union official's request was routine, thought nothing of it and went about their work. Then the election drew closer. Then the Culinary canvassers started seeking them out and ordering them to go vote..... ------------- We can do this all day, new sockpuppet. Stupidity is on both sides of the isle.
