Are you being facetious? I can't tell.

Anyone who went to college knows that political science is a joke major. It's do-nothing degree, just a notch or two above basket weaving in terms of rigor. It's about as scientific as polling a bunch of drunks at closing time outside a bar.

  4. Interesting observation. Barack Obama also received a Political Science degree (before graduating magna cum laude from Harvard).

    He also won an election.

What degree would you recommend that candidates get at Oral Roberts university to prepare them for office?

  6. It is no secret that the states that tend to be the most conservative are the ones who receive more from the federal government than they put in.

And one of the reasons is because of these agricultual welfare programs.

Simply put, American farmers in general cannot compete in the world markets, so the government helps keep them in business.

Ironically, rural areas tend to be conservative, and conservatives are the ones most likely to rail about encroaching government control, socialism, and welfare.

But I think hypocritically would be a better word than ironically here. Redstate righties wallow in hypocrisy like pigs wallowing in their own feces.

A large number of farmers in the District of Columbia are there?
They receive THREE times the ratio of aid vs taxes paid as the number two on the list, N. Dakota.

And number three on the list of aid vs taxes paid is a blue state, New Mexico.

But that's enough cherry picking statistics for me in one day.

BTW, I'm all for reduced or complete elimination of farm subsidies. In fact given the above logic I'm surprised the DNC hasn't proposed just such a strategy so as to eliminate the opposition/red states altogether.

  9. There you go, thinking like a Republican and projecting your "values" on others.

  10. Rural, white farming areas in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin have a long history of left wing advocacy. In the 1930's there were all kinds of political parties like the Socialist Farmers etc.

Back to Bachman: The article is erronious in one major, major regard. It WASN'T HER FARM. It was her in-laws farm and her husband only recently inherited it. Nice try though.
