The Founding Fathers/TransColonialTheys certainly were familiar with the parliamentary system. Long live the Electoral College!!!!
As usual, nuances are left out when GWB presents stuff unless they strengthen a narrative he wants to push.
You are referring to monarchy system, not a democracy system. Big difference. It’s interesting to see a right winger extolling the electoral college while there is such a strong movement against the electoral college on the right. It’s probably y’all just favor corruption and sedition. Nevermind.
All of this is hooey. The right wing cannot stand to defend its positions outside of its bubble. That is it. The be all and end all. Again, this is the party whose official platform is see Donald Trump. They don’t want to have their ideas and policies aired out in front of the people. They want to lie and hide because they are engaged in a culture war. Do not kid yourself. The republicans are embarrassed of their unamerican political positions.
When are you and your ilk going to repeal the Electoral College? That is an empty battle cry that you like to churn over and over but it goes nowhere. And now that there is talk of Hillary running again it will come back bigtime and go nowhere. Do it, pussies.
This is more of an academic discussion. I do think the electoral college/direct election or presidential democracy has been run through the ringer and is showing signs of its age. We have real weaknesses because of it. A parliamentary system would better represent regional interests and give people who more align with 3rd and 4th parties a clearer voice and opportunity to have their interests represented.
It would give more/all of the power to the populated states/cities and leave the smaller flyover states at their mercy. A factor that the founders clearly understood as they did not all want to be at the complete mercy of Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. There was a recognition that the greater population states should have greater representation and that resulted in the House of Representatives and the Electoral College being calculated off of the number of congressional seats. So representation is weighted toward the greater population states but a minimum representation in the form of the Electoral College and the Senate. A great system. Thus the dems want to change it. Do it, pussies.
Wrong. Not only wrong, yours is an awful analysis. Wrong doesn’t even do justice to how bad it is. On the other hand, changing the actual structure of the government is not going to happen. The lift is way too heavy.
They're convinced Trump will run for President , but at the same time , they're saying Trump doesn't have to participate if he don't want to , because.... 'Trump is so scared': RNC threatening to pull out of presidential debates A change that the GOP wants is that Trump can refuse to participate if he wants anyway. After his first debate in Sept. 2020, the former president claimed polls were wrong that he lost the debate to Biden. So, Trump's resistance to debates could show that he's either afraid of his future Democratic opponent or he's admitting now that he lost during final debates.
