You could keep your gold in a privately run vault. You could buy and sell the stuff electronically, without ever having to move it. Only the ownership changes. That's how the big guys buy and sell bullion right now. If an Italian bank buys gold from a Swiss bank the gold is likely to stay in a Zurich vault, just the name on the label changes.

There are already small companies, like goldmoney.com, that do this for smaller gold holders. But no nation has yet made gold its currency, and you can't buy from Amazon with gold grams, so the idea hasn't taken off.

It's silly to think that with a gold standard you'd have to haul around several kg of gold to buy a house.

I didn't think that! Obviously, if the supply of gold is growing slowly, but the economy expands rapidly, the value of gold will soar. A single flake could buy a house some day!

I have doubts any major country will, I think we've gone too far in the wrong direction to go back now. Sad really.

supreme court, legal minds, interpreting the constitution,do we still have a constitution,Ron Paul is a kook for the simple reason that he thinks he can go against the corporate owned political machine and live to run for office,if he got in,half no all of washington would be put on the carpet and tried ,convicted ,sentenced, and the key thrown away, any simpletons sticking up for the democratic or republican party has had to have been living in an asylum for the last 40 years to not see the gradual and now steep ramp in crime coming out of D.C.

  8. Hmm, the logic sounds vaguely familiar...Oh I remember now, those who disagree with the prophet are infidel...and those who disagree with a Mullah's interpretation of a verse in the Koran are traitors and faux muslims... It's pretty sad though if you think about it. Different worlds, different people, different education, different values...and same blind fundamentalism. The limitations of the human brain cross all boundaries.

  9. As I said in one of my previous posts I kinda agree on both parties, their corruption, the corporate ownership of the entire political spectrum etc. It does not change the fact that Ron Paul is a naive puritanical kook who would make things worse, not better. Life is not black and white and politicians who see everything in black and white tend to fuck things up real bad with their simplistic thinking. Carter and GWB leap immediately to mind but Ron Paul would be in a league of his own.

  10. So you will rather vote for corrupted politicians . It says a lot about your set of values.
