I don't think you lose your right to vote because you don't pay taxes. We didn't have income taxes until way past the founding. I do think that our code is unconstitutional because having the top 1% pay what, 40%, 50% of the taxes violates fair and equal treatment under the law.
At the founding the states generally allowed land owning or tax paying white males. What I propose is all Federal tax paying, US Citizens should have the right to vote. Non-contributors should not.
Half the people can't afford to pay taxes and 1/3 get credits. Problem is our government. Get rid of 50% just for starters. About the only thing our government is good at is killing people, so we shouldn't miss it.
A lot of billionaires in the US pay less in taxes because they have tax loopholes up their asses. I doubt they pay the high rates mentioned. The millionaires maybe, but, the billionaires? Nah. One is the Gart Trust where they can run their monies thru multiple trust accounts and then, when it gets to their heirs, they do not pay any estate taxes. Not one red cent. Sure, they should get a vote still but, long past time to shutdown a lot of these tax loopholes.
Time to quit worrying about fixing taxes and start cutting our blood sucking government out of our lives.
I don't mind non-taxpayers voting, but I wish we had some sort of aptitude test. Surveys have shown that 2 out of every 3 people can't name the 3 branches of government. People shouldn't be allowed to vote if they don't even understand what they're voting for.
