for the life of me i don't know what kind of trading these people are doing that all that stuff that limitdown just wrote becomes a factor. is it a stretch to say that for the VAST majority of people who are actually trading (not just providing liquidity) a dsl/modem, p3, 256Ram is ample??
500 mGZ Pentium III 4 gB hard drive 784 mB memory DSL (with cable backup) 3 + 1 monitors (2 machines) No problems, I often get filled much faster than I really want. (now why the heck did I just do that dumb move for?) Multiple monitors with good resolution is one thing you really will want to have.
I run Sterling on a P2 400mhz with 256MB and 3 monitors and it works fine. I have time and sales and level two windows open for about 30 stocks. I also have a couple web browsers and a squawk box running on this computer. I run charts on a different, new machine.
Lescor- did you load up the new version yet? I like it. do you have a snapshot of your screen that you can post? thanks
Yes, I downloaded it yesterday. A few new features I'll probably make good use of. I tried posting a screen shot, but it's too big. Email me and I can send it to you if you like. Corey
Running Sterling on a PII 266 with 400 megs on a laptop and Windows 2000 via a cable modem from Anchorage, Alaska. Great reliability and the system is plenty fast. I'm the weakest link in the setup, as I suspect are many traders who overemphasize equipment and connectivity issues in their trading.
technology not your strong suit, huh? try SMH (semi conductor holders), or better yet, their component equities. Perhaps, getting to know even the least about their names will acquaint you with what I mentioned. Certainly, all the myriad threads about how lousy REDI+ software from SLK should explain just what I mentioned. That direct access platform would never work on any of the configurations mentioned on this thread.
