Look at the section called "how to depress yourself". There is a little matrix of how depression prone people think about things both good and bad and how non-depression prone people think. The author says the patterns are universal, found in every culture right along with depresson with a strong correlation. I have to stop myself occasionally and think about what is going on in my head and it becomes very easy to change the thinking with only a little effort once you recognize the patterns. Then you will find people in your near field environment that are reinforcing the wrong patterns in your head and exterminate them of course :) jk
