  1. thunderbolt,

you are certainly one fascinating human being; an idiot, yes, but fascinating nonetheless.

if, despite my simple explanation to the contrary, you continue to think that atheism is actually a religion, well, my friend, you have "issues" that are so deeply ingrained it would require a deep-sea rig to reach them.

  2. To you, Mr. M, I reiterate, Atheists try their hardest to argue a fact that is firmly established--God is real. You cannot look on His creation and its ways and honestly deny it. I won't argue that 2+2=4 and I won't argue that God exists. An atheist once wrote and said, "2+2 is not necessarily 4". Well, write any other number on your math test and see if you get it right.

The bottom line is that atheism is a false belief system composed of fools--it's not new--the Bible told us about atheism thousands of years ago. Is there a real atheist? No. The closest thing to it is someone who has told themselves a lie so many times that they begin to believe it's true.

  3. Now that atheism has been addressed, let's move onto the Bible itself. I tracked down a very good quote:

President Ronald Reagan pointed to that Amazing Book and said, "Indeed, it is an indisputable fact that all the complex and horrendous questions confronting us at home and worldwide have their answer in that SINGLE BOOK."

    How true that is...

  4. Thunderbolt,

You are clearly the most closed minded person on this message board.

Danial and I both have tried to put into simple terms
what atheism is and you CHOOSE to completely ignore
    what we have said.

You are once again being misleading with definitions.

    Atheism is NOT a religion.
Atheism is simply a LACK OF belief of any god.
    Nothing more and nothing less.

It is HILARIOUS to watch a christian ATTEMPT to define
what atheism is TO AN ATHEIST.

You have proven over and over again that you have NO CLUE what an atheist is.

You have failed to defend your beliefs.
You ignore everything posted in response
    to your empty assertions.

If anyone is an ostrich with their head in the sand,
    it clearly is YOU.

You have shown everyone that you are nothing
    more than a PARROT.

You have shown NO capability of using logical thought
in this debate. All you can do is quote from the bible,
and then stand back proudly as if that holds
    ANY water with anyone.

Open your eyes and your ears and attempt to use
some of that grey matter up there which separates you
    from mere bacterium.

Until you write SOMETHING that posseses ANY
logical thought at all, I will refrain from replying
to a PARROT. I might as well listen to BIBLE tapes.

Well thunderbolt, you might want to share this profound knowledge with the entire establishment of Christianity if you get the chance - they're still regarding belief in God as being a matter of faith. Shit, if his is existance is indeed FACT, i'm sure they would really like to know! Quick, hop to it!

The bottom line is that atheism is a false belief system composed of fools--it's not new--the Bible told us about atheism thousands of years ago. Is there a real atheist? No. The closest thing to it is someone who has told themselves a lie so many times that they begin to believe it's true.

I am an atheist. I don't think there'd be too many people who know me that would call me a "fool". :)

Thunderbolt, I have a problem, you see. I really would hate to have to keep lying to myself - about anything. However, I can't simply believe in something just because another person tells me it is true. I require EVIDENCE. So you see my problem don't you?
I cannot even accept the notion of "god" as being true, let alone Christianity (which is so full of holes it makes swiss cheese look good) without EVIDENCE!

Could you please help me out by giving me a better idea about your "god"? I'm sure that since he is FACT, as you say, you would have no trouble at all defining him (i've never met a god, so i don't really know what constitutes a "god").

    Thanks!

Thunderbolt. For what it is worth, here is my take on this whole thing.

I don't know that anyone here; not Axeman, not Daniel, certainly not myself; is going to try and PROVE that there is no God. We all admit we don't know.

You, however, DO KNOW there is a God. And no one here can dispute this, for, as I have said, we don't know, and if you are right about there being a God, that's cool with us. Because a just God will be happy with us for living our lives without harming others. Or forcing our beliefs on others.

What we do disagree with, is your using the BIBLE as PROOF. The Bible is not PROOF of anything. It is a book. It is a collection of parables and fables. It is not history. It is not factual. And most importantly, although we do not know who the original authors (plural) were, we do know that it was NOT written by the God it refers to. This should make it irrelevant in a debate about religion. You are talking about your BELIEFS, which is fine. But you think your BELIEFS can be used to prove something. They cannot.

Can (for example) Axeman's beliefs prove anything to you? Why should your BELIEFS prove anything to anyone else?

Your arguments really do tend to go over the edge. The "calendar" argument was a classic. Do you know how many different calendars there are still in use today?

You are preaching here. You are not making any logical arguments. Do you realize that?

I respect you for holding your beliefs sacred. That is a good thing for you obviously. But your beliefs do nothing to make your "arguments" strong. They actually weaken your position. Because you are not using any logic whatsoever. I hope you can see this, but I have a strong sense that you cannot.

    Peace,
    :)rs7

  8. Thunderbolt,

would you care to place a little wager? I will bet you a big steak dinner that in the next 50 years the growth rate of professed atheists in United States is going to ECLIPSE the growth rate of new christians (which is already badly stagnating).

    bye bye God
