But I am not an atheist - I think? Can I believe in GOD but not the Biblical God and still not be an atheist? nitro
Matthew 5:22 Does this mean you will be spending a bit of time alone? Edit: looks like Daniel beat me to it. LOL, the atheist wins the scripture chase.
Yeah just thought that the irony in your post was funny about how you'll be eternally punished for believing, and was wondering out loud where that punishment might take place. No matter how you capitalize your deity, it sounds like you're neither an atheist nor a Christian.
look thunder, get this thru your head --the bible is not proof of god's existence. let's get this straight once and for all. if anything the bible is a great literary work but not proof of anything except perhaps evidence of man's angst about death, the unknown and the unknowable. :-/
look faster, an unbeliever is a like a wave in the sea, being tossed to and fro and should expect nothing from the lord.
Also, somebody in here claimed that I was the hardest to deal with. Thanks! I pride myself in my firm commitments in life--AND BEYOND.....JESUS IS STILL ALIVE TODAY...."LOW, I WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU, EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE WORLD".....That statement was made as JESUS was ascending from earth to heaven. My friends, there is good news. The living Christ can enter your life and you will be forever changed. He came so that we might live more abundantly. Seek, and ye shall find. Good luck!
dan, you got a big fish on the line here with dark (you think you can boat'im? lol) GET THE NET READY DAN.... I'M GONNA REEL THIS BABY IN!! :-D dark, in all seriousness (and i promise a serious discussion here) I WANT TO BELIEVE but i can't. i can't get my meager mental resources around this to believe as you do. this god factor is a glorious notion, i wish it true, i want it to be true! your posts are great (at least they appear to have substance) but i can't understand most of it. i will go back later today a re-read just because you have piqued my interest with the links you've provided. BUT can you give us something compelling that a man of average intelligence can comprehend? but what you give has to be rational and have a tangible baisis. lead the way for us dark, show us the light. i want to believe! :-/
i am an unbeliever, but god made me this way didn't "he"? "he" gave me a mind and the free will to use it. "he" gave me 'reason' ostensibly to use... and i am using it. this 'gift of reason' tells me it's all BS. so is this my fault that when i use these gifts i come to these conclusions? i don't think so.
>>i am an unbeliever, but god made me this way didn't "he"? << He did indeed make you, but you have allowed yourself to get into your present condition--you have free will. Don't blame God for your denial of his existence. If you believed and obeyed, then you would see what God is all about. Until then, you will be like that wave in the sea.
Thunderbolt, Do you realise what the implications of man having free will are? It means that your God cannot be all-knowing, as you claim he is. If God is all-knowing, it means he knows exactly what I am going to do next - that is totally incompatible with the concept of free will! If God knows what I'm gonna do in my life, it means I am nothing but a mindless robot. In which case, why does God even bother sending Jesus to save us - he already knows what we are going to do! It means he basically created me, knew I what I would do (reject him) and then throws me into hell for it! You have totally evaded any of the accusations against your God thus far, but surely even you cannot fail to see that free will and an all-knowing God cannot possibly co-exist!
