You know I asked this in Sunday school when I was maybe 10 or 11 years old. I think the answer was some other people just happened along. Cain and Able took wives from somewhere. Not their sisters or their mother. Sounded a little too convienient to me. I didn't buy it, but hey, each to his own. If it makes sense to others, that's fine with me. Got kicked out of Sunday school for bringing my dog with me. And being late. And not paying attention. And being disrespectful to the teacher. I was a sinner Now I am older and hopefully a little more mature than when I was 11. I now hold teachers in great respect. But I still don't believe in the bible. But I can respect that others do. rs7
Actually as far as I know the history I posted is true, only it happened about 1000 BC, not in modern or recent Israel. The conflict has roots back to this time and understanding of the origins (not just the recent history) is key to understanding the long hatred/rivalry that exists. There is a lot more history that happens after this such as Israel being conquered / destroyed by Assyria (Syria) and also by Babylon (Iraq), and later resettling and rebuilding, all this BC of course. And yes when Joshua led the children of Israel (12 tribes, not just the Jews) back into what is now Israel, they killed off many of the people living in that area in the process. But then again it was their (the descendants of Abraham) land to begin with.
I stand corrected...just found this on the ever trusty web: (guess my sunday school teacher was holding out on us) "The most asked question in the world concerning the Bible is probably, "Where did Cain get his wife? The answer is obvious. If Adam and Eve, were the first man and woman, and Eve was the mother of all living, then Cain married his sister. "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living." (Genesis 3:20). Genesis 5:4, states that Adam, begat other sons and daughters." (Merrill F. Unger, Moody Press)
Ok, so Cain bonked his sister.... EWWWWWWWWWWW! I still want to hear Thunderbolt admit it....hehe peace axeman
I didn't think it was that difficult of a question. If you believe in the bible then the answer is that Adam and Eve had children, and their children married (each other) and had their own children and so forth. If you change the word "child" to "descendant" in #4 then that would be biblically correct also. If you really believe that Adam and Eve were the first people to be created on the earth then there would be noone who would "happen by" that their children could get married to.
ok, now that we know adam & eve's children had sex amongst themselves hehe, the real question is: is it even a true story? there is NO WAY 2 humans were just plopped on earth. evolution really is a fact. it is not a universally accepted fact YET, but it is a fact. if you look at apes, monkeys, neanderthals, etc. you can CLEARLY see slight variations and progressions. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aso/tryit/evolution/indext.html
sigh...you just push and push....Yes, there is a straightforward answer to this question, though not a two sentence one. The real question is, do you care what the answer is? If I gave you a multi paragraph explanation similar to ones i have given before, what would you do with it? You would either ignore it, try to pick it apart, or just find something else to crap on. Or maybe you would say I'm just "biased towards my own answer" or "delusional" or some other sophist line of thought. Because you aren't interested in actual answers, you are interested in making fun of religious people. Period. If I recall from earlier threads Gekko you enjoy making fun of retarded people too. Maybe religious freaks and retards are one and the same huh? Hey axehawk, here in the northwest a nun got raped and strangled to death the other day, maybe you think that's funny huh? Want to make a joke about how God should have saved her? And then when I don't respond you can pretend I don't have an answer why, ha ha. Us Christians, so poor and stupid and pathetic, so easily torn down by one liners and criticisms that they so obviously don't have any answers at all for, that they have never heard of before. I missed boat, I haven't given up on anything except trying to reason with people who think cruelty is funny and like playing the gotcha game. I can't respond to this a_hole mentality without feeling like an a_hole myself, and I would rather not feel that way. So I am trying to walk on.
No? What if they were "plopped on earth" by aliens? Tell me what is possible and what is not. Maybe Noah's Ark was a spaceship. Who knows? Didn't you ever see the Star Trek movie with the Genesis machine (or whatever it was called)? Watch "2001 a Space Odyssey" All about evolution being aided by aliens. Better yet, read the book. It makes more sense.
