Dark, Well I think you have been a little too hard on yourself in these last two posts. Or maybe a lot too hard. I don't think there was any reason to apologize for your verbal jousting. Not if you believe what you were saying. Which I believe you always have. It doesn't matter if you can or cannot get others to agree. As we know some subjects really don't lend themselves well to debate, 'cause it's virtually impossible to get the other side to listen. I said somewhere here in the past few days or so that you have pretty much always been respectful and respectable. You should take pride that you have contained your "rage" as you describe it better than many, and much much better than some. I don't have to give examples. But alas, I have found you to have committed the one unpardonable gaffe....bad grammar!!! Other than this.....keep up the good work Rs7
I do think that dark should have apologized, not for verbal jousting but for the level of intolerance in his view. Without a doubt, there have been some atheists here who have been rude as well, but they did not suggest that there was no room for others with differing opinions, even if they mocked them. However, I am very impressed that dark would come on and give such a thoughtful and introspective apology and explanation. It is a lot easier to stand by a mistake than it is to apologize (ie it takes a real man to apologize). It appears that dark is the highly rational and reasonable person that he had until recently appeared to be. WIth regard to credibility, I don't think most people here have given dark credibility for bad reasons. People here have simply viewed you, dark, as someone who was intelligent, rational and reasonable, and therefore worth conversing with in stimulating conversations. By the way, on a minor note, there is nothing that I have said here on ET that I wouldn't say to anyone's face!
Always fun to bust on my friend Darkhorse. This was special because he said he was an english major in the same sentence. And believe me, he doesn't often make errors. Rs7
You could be right. I thought that he was being facetious at the time he made his outrageous statements. If not, then you are correct. He got carried away and an apology was in order. Either way, he is a good soul and I respect him and his views. Many of which I am at odds with. But being at odds does not mean I cannot accept them as being perfectly fine for him. I love freedom of speech. Right up there among my favorite freedoms. Rs7
"The entire point, though, is that, in essence, we remain with the same religion under which we were raised because there is a degree of conditioning involved. Certainly, we have the will to decide which aspects of a religion we do or do not like, but our core beliefs have a tendency to remain the same as those under which we were raised because those beliefs are engrained in our subconscious mind." read the rest here: http://www.infidelguy.com/article_16.htm
What hard questions? I looked back 10 pages and all I saw were statements from you. Re-state then and I will try to answer. peace axeman
