  1. well at least you're accepting evolution...that's good. religious people don't like to acknowledge it though because the bible says god created adam & eve. obviously, evolution does not support the adam & eve concept.

  3. Thanks for proving once again you have NO answer.
Thats why you had to reply with an attack.

You have NOT answered this question anywhere.
    Who created your creator???
You simply dodge the question with an attack.

Your argument has been proven illogical.
I understand that this bugs you and you have
to resort to personal attacks. It just makes it
that much more clear that you have no position and
    have lost this debate.

    Thunderbolt has conceded.

  4. You have no evidence of this.
    Not much of a fact.
    End of story.

  5. Gordo,

Your house came from trees. It didn't exist in its present form 3 million years ago -- but everything you can touch in your house was once somewhere else as part of some other system.

So, if you don't believe in God, then the universe may be nothing but a huge recycle bin.

If that's the case, then fine -- maybe next time I'll come back as a few bottles of fine wine and serve my purpose over the course of one night at a fancy restaraunt. Perhaps eventually some of my atoms will make their way into the tablecloths and some of the bricks in the wall.

Some of the reasons that I choose to believe in god / religion is because it gives me something to fall back on when I greive over a major loss. The thought of standing over someone who is dead that I once dearly loved would be frightning if I couldn't fall back on a belief system that allowed me to accept that I would see them again somewhere / somehow.

In that respect, if religion helps the psychological healing of loss, then I'm all for it.

Everything that begins eventually ends -- that is the cycle of things. However, I just choose to believe that these cycles of beginnings and ends are really themselves part of a much larger circle where all ends eventually begin again in some other form.

  6. quite possibly, except, i wouldn't consider one of my atoms "me." so if some of your atoms end up in a brick, i wouldn't say you're in the brick. who you are is your functioning brain. as you know, we lose skin cells constantly. we are always being rebuilt. if you cut off a piece of your fingernail, do you call it you? i don't.
that's fine. if it helps you..then ok. but just admit that's what it is. something in your mind that helps you. in the words of jesse ventura, "Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people..." now, i'm not saying you have a weak mind, but i do consider religion to be a crutch.

  7. There is just too much design and complexity within this universe for there not to be something greater than what we can perceive at this moment in time.

I think that just about encompasses where I stand.

The universe is both within and without us -- as the eye serves as a gateway to the soul.

  8. i never say that can't be the case. in fact, it may be true. what i do say is that man made religions are WEAK attempts to explain what we can't explain. if you need one, fine. if it helps you, fine. but please just admit you know it probably isn't true and that there's no proof. the evidence is so non-existent, you even need to call it faith! how can you not see it's just a made up story passed on from generation to generation?

yeah, us human beings on planet earth have it all figured out because we have our bibles...NOT! why can't religious people just accept that we don't know everything? why do they need some fairy tale to live their life by? let's just all admit we don't know, and let science progress. science is my religion. i don't need some adam & eve bs. knowing that we don't know everything is more fascinating anyway.

    sincerely,

    gordon einstein
