Stu, I was going to say the exact same thing...he posted his "closed thread" thing while I wasn't looking. Well, it apparently is closed for him, which actually may open it for a voice of reason that can argue his (Tbolt's) side with REASON instead of dogma. Either way, my friend Thunderbolt has accomplished only to discredit himself. He could have given thoughtful responses or thoughtful arguments. I know that they must exist. A billion Christians can't all be so obtuse. But Thunderbolt could only preach and not debate. He would answer a question with a biblical quote that addressed less than nothing, and proved even less (how is it possible to surpass less than nothing? The "miracle" of Thunderbolt). And the few times he got away from quoting the bible, he got weaker still. The "calendar" argument for proving the life of Jesus is still making me laugh. Peace to all, Rs7
rs7 I agree with your feelings I feel the same . A good debate requires people to converse properly. I am glad if Thunderbolt gets a warm fuzzy feeling ( a bit like wetting his pants) it's the determinate "this is the Truth" I cannot accept (thats the part when he'll experience the downside of having wet his pants) I wish him well though as I do everyone, 'cause none has the definitive answer and that's the point and it's the exciting, stimulating bit - trying to find out
Actually, if you've been following this thread throughout, there have been regular questions and discussions over the different definitions of God.
gentlemen, some people seem to have an inate knowledge of a creator and other do not have this knowledge. those who do not posess the "knowledge" believe that those who do are foolish. my question is can anything convince a skeptic that there is a creator ?? or on a personal note--what would it take to convince you ?? axe, dan, gg ---- if one of you guys had an encounter with a god type entity would you just chock it up as self delusion?? as heidegger states, "cast in matter, alone in the universe" what a sorry state for mankind. all the best, surf
the same can be said of unicorns -some people seem to have an inate knowledge of unicorns and other do not have this knowledge. those who do not posess the "knowledge" believe that those who do are foolish. my question is can anything convince a skeptic that there is a unicorn ?? ahhh, yes there is something that you can do .... PRODUCE ONE!
I Missed the Boat Actually, I don't think there could be much confusion about which god I was talking about. If you have a different god and that one is kind and caring then good for you. I 've no right to disaprove of anyone having their own god and their beliefs to help them through the day, if that's what they need. I object to being TOLD that I have to accept false assertions (which assertions after all are created by man in any case) and if I don't follow their gods, or should I dare to question or put the opposite view, then I become some kind of lost soul or despotic godless creature. I would guess a lot of folks would be disapointed to see their god portrayed as a cruel and intimidating deity, as the Bible does - I was. Any god worth its salt should know it is an impossible dichotomy to expect free minded intelligent sentient beings to blindly and unquestioningly accept a book, written by humans and full of glaring contradictions, to be a message from "him". So it's a simple step from there to create one that just has the friendly bits associated to it. But that's a different god and I would guess there are different gods created every day, which are able to cover over the flaws of a previous one. They reside in peoples' minds and I think that's fine as long as they are not used as an excuse for feeling righteous and instructing everyone else they shall accept that as the truth. "Show me your Unicorn" (copyright FPC 2002) and debate the likelihood of its existence. btw Will someone tell Thunderbolt he closed this thread and therefor he should not be able to read it, let alone post on it ps #####VOTED THE DUMBEST POST ON ET#####AND BEYOND##### Also he should stop watching those Buzz Lightyear videos
