Wanna see a website that is about as information-arid as they come: http://www.refco.com/index.asp That's what happens when you get too big for your britches. "The largest non-bank futures merchant in the world...blah, blah, blah" Now here is one that is just replete with information: http://www.interactivebrokers.com/ Thought for the day: "The first shall be last, and the last, first." THIS IS YOUR WAKE-UP CALL...REFCO! GET WITH IT !! (I'm almost embarrassed to be a client of theirs; even if only for a back-up broker). saxon
Refco website looks like it was designed by "consultants" who know jackshit about trading or traders' needs. IB's website has ALL items easily accessible.
I just have become a customer of Refco. I feel the broker pretty stable and secured. Having said that, I also agree their website is like a labyrinth, I had a similar experience with CitiBank site.
What a timely post, Saxon! Just this morning I saw a headline about Refco introducing an S&P index managed futures hedge fund. There was a link to Refco.com for more information. I was interested so I clicked over to Refco.com and after spending 5 fruitless minutes looking for info I gave it up in frustration.
REFCO is mainly a clearing house for other brokers to use. I have been with Altavest Futures Brokerage for several years. Refco is our clearing house. I know a few people that trade directly with them and are very satisfied. I have been satisfied with them as a clearing house.
