Well, 105 by Feb 17th I doubt, but apparently the guy is no stranger to that subreddit with his BS. Either way, I can't see him trading much longer, whether he makes money on this or not. Most interesting part of the story was the maple syrup "cartel" he has up there from his supposed "other" uncle, and his willingness to send a jar to everyone (free shipping) with his winnings. Seriously? Dumb.
Sudden wealths usually ended badly, just read how most lottery winners blew their winnings in a short time.
from another redditor: "Obviously history doesn't always repeat itself but if it does we should see between a 6.2%- 13.4% movement within about 2 weeks post earnings. At 122.00 stock price that puts movement of $7.50-$16.35. With a put of $117 costing me $.95 and based on historical movement post earnings I see it this way: Either $AAPL goes up between 6-13% and I lose my whole investment or even if I get the minimum movement of 6.2% the stock will be at $114.50 I will be able to sell my puts for a minimum of $2.50 and make 250%."
Or not, he is up 12K so far with AAPL moving very little... IV always increases prior to big events, so him loading up earlier was smart... https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/5r1jn3/so_far_so_good/
Hmmmm. The IV might be up because of the broader markets too right? Its usually pretty constant over the chain that encompasses the event. Even a few weeks out. If it was that easy we'd all be rich.
I am not an expert, but several redditors reported today that their calls went up 10%, although the stock was slightly down, so you tell me. Example: "MRPguy 66 points 8 hours ago* Meh, I'm up 3.6% on AAPL the calls I purchased this morning EDIT: up 7% now on those calls. Not great, but meh, green is green. And I bought more. EDIT 2: ended the day +15% on my AAPL calls." ------------- "alrightcool123 1 point 3 hours ago Ended the day +10.25% on my AAPL calls."
I will say this however. I've played the earnings games for years. This time around... AAPL pretty much trades flat. All the big move "writers" are gonna lose. Check back in in 24 hrs.... AAPL will be flatter than Rachel Maddow in Antarctica. (In a wet T-shirt contest)
