Strongly recommended: "Brownfield Application Development in .NET" http://www.manning.com/baley/ This book has .NET in the title, but it applies to all modern programming of this sort, imo. Most professional programmers know this stuff already. If you don't, you will just be surprised when you get a job and have to learn it all at once.
looks too IT(ish)...takes all the fun out of programming. but should be good if you inherit a TPS reporting app. is there a book that prevents unchallenged programmers from creating a system/application that is just technical masturbation a la rube goldberg
man created the finite universe because you can't perform arithmetic on infinity. also there is no such thing as an n-dimensional sphere except for n = 3. i'm just sayin
Best book on the subject and highly recommended: "Parallel Programming with Microsoft .NET: Design Patterns for Decomposition and Coordination on Multicore Architectures (Patterns & Practices) [Paperback]" http://www.amazon.com/Parallel-Prog...1590/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1314743814&sr=8-2

http://www.safaribooksonline.com/ There are a pros and cons to "renting" but since I was able to get my manager to cover the subscription cost, it is an easy choice. Depending on the level service you pick, there are tons of investing books included under "Personal Finance."
