Recent heat spike unlike anything in 11,000 years

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new study looking at 11,000 years of climate temperatures shows the world in the middle of a dramatic U-turn, lurching from near-record cooling to a heat spike.
Research released Thursday in the journal Science uses fossils of tiny marine organisms to reconstruct global temperatures back to the end of the last ice age. It shows how the globe for several thousands of years was cooling until an unprecedented reversal in the 20th century.
Scientists say it is further evidence that modern-day global warming isn't natural, but the result of rising carbon dioxide emissions that have rapidly grown since the Industrial Revolution began roughly 250 years ago.
The decade of 1900 to 1910 was one of the coolest in the past 11,300 years — cooler than 95 percent of the other years, the marine fossil data suggest. Yet 100 years later, the decade of 2000 to 2010 was one of the warmest, said study lead author Shaun Marcott of Oregon State University. Global thermometer records only go back to 1880, and those show the last decade was the hottest for this more recent time period............

Not that I care to get into this topic all that much, but can someone tell me how reliable information can be gathered on temperatures 11,000 years ago? Did they have the Weather Channel back then?

"My word.......... (thinking) ....is it unreasonable to suggest that fossils are rather peculiar and contain some elements of "bad-assery"?

.... "I highly disagree, ....the recent heat spike is unlike anything in 11,000 years

...." Are you perhaps "stoned" oh kind sir?"

"Quite the opposite. I am a scientist". (exhales...)

I see the gents leaving the room later, and you coming in to tidy up and run a vacuum around.

This research is a joke from Oregon State. We already have the data that they claim is new and shocking. I guess their research grant is up for renewal. LOL

And, it isn't even being reported in the news correctly. This from the study abstract:

"Current global temperatures of the past decade have not yet exceeded peak interglacial values but are warmer than during ~75% of the Holocene temperature history. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change model projections for 2100 exceed the full distribution of Holocene temperature under all plausible greenhouse gas emission scenarios."

In other words, nothing new here. Below is a chart showing how long term temperatures are trending down and temps today and NOT UNPRECIDENTED. And, the next chart is a very long term chart of temperatures that the AP says we didn't have. Just one of many. What a joke of a story.

Of course it would. You would have had access to information from committee members on which stocks were about to get slapped by Congress or get a favorable law proposed.

You would get rich just like the Senators and Congressmen do. :D
