But of course, that's all true. Francis Ford Coppola said sugar was the secret ingredient in his spaghetti sauce, whereas the former NY, Italian restaurateur, Alfredo Viazzi, said, "never add sugar" to tomato sauce for pasta. Regardless, why do we need the folks canning the tomatoes to make the sugar decision for us?

We don't. That is why some brands don't add it. Choice. I buy either. Really makes no difference to me. Thru my life I've weighed between 165 to 180 at 6" 0' so never a weight problem or out of whack blood sugar, hypertension, etc. Everything in moderation and nowadays lots of fruits and veggies.

Saw a news story a few days ago that I got distracted away from before having a chance to read it, but the headline was something along the lines of there are no food allergies in one place in particular in the U.S. - Amish Country. Prolly because, for the most part, they eat healthy and do a lot of manual {farming, carpentry, etc} labor so they are active.

IMO sugar, the natural kind is fine. High fructose crap put in so much of our food chain, but especially in sodas (BTW I haven't had one, or flavored water or energy drinks in over 5 years) drank by coach potatoes along with all the fast food and heavily processed food consumed is what gives "sugar" a bad rap.
