Oh, yeah? Visit Phoenix in July or August or September.

    Or June. Or May.

    Or April.

Actually, it's because I don't live in the new developments on the outskirts that are built on what ought to be protected desert.

    But hey :)

  5. I don't either..... And not to get into a debate (cause in all reality, I don't really have an opinion one way or the other), but where ever it is you live....that was once part of the 'outskirts' too.
My parents have a house in PV which is by no means the 'outskirts' but there have been plenty of scorpions there too...

Actually, I live downtown . . . Though this may have been the outskirts when Phoenix consisted of a trading post and a livery stable.

  7. I've been here 8 years and haven't had the priveledge of either a scorpion or rattlesnake. We're in a 20-year-old development surrounded by other subdivs.

Those new homes going up in east Mesa/Apache Jct, where you have a house, 6 feet of backyard space, a block fence and raw desert on the other side - well you wouldn't get me to spend a weekend in the backyard that's for damn sure :D

I read somewhere that scorpions will glow under black light, so you may want to sweep your bedroom with it and see what shows up.

  8. I've actually tried that..... and it does sorta work. Although it was a fairly small black light and you had to be pretty close to the thing to see it glow...so unless you have big lights left over from your college dorm room days, then I wouldn't rely on that method to sweep for them. My ex *ahem* the one who got me on the ET boards*ahem* has set various scorpions on fire.... He thought he'd tape one to his door as a warning to other scorpions not to come into his house.

And in case you were wondering......Ummmm...no, errrr, that didn't work......

  9. Oh, and another thing Arizona has is casinos filled with poker players who have no clue what they are doing and just giving away thier money. AND Arizona has cheap labor, if you know what i mean... :D What more could u ask for?

  10. Well I'll give you that one...... I'm actually going to play in a hold-em tourney one of these days if I ever get motivated..... I think I have a huge advantage being a chick because the guys assume we're clueless. Well, at least the schmucks who play at the casinos here do.

Speaking of poker, we somehow ended up at an acquaintances house last weekend were I engaged in a impromptu game of texas hold-em. Me against 5 guys at $20 each in. I kicked their ass and I wasn't exactly 100% sober so that pissed them off even more. One guy said, "What the hell?! You didn't even have any good hands?!" Um.... yea....DUH. Then they complained I was being obnoxious....again...DUH, haven't they ever watched the WPT? Sheesh..... And I was so nice (and stupid) that I actually didn't even take their money.... they were about to cry I think...

OK, got side tracked, sorry....but this is chit-chat ya know..;-)
