Reality for an Individual Trader

  1. Looks like millions helped here...

Not everything works the way planned even for the big boys.. the big boys have to rely on others to float the price from entry too.. even if your first a larger fish can game your entry.

Friday's NFP non event unless it comes in significantly weaker. FOMC next week, the moves have been priced in. The statement regarding how aggressive they will be is what the algo's will try to decipher. Most all of that decision making will show up on price action.

I read the definition,.. my posts weren't meant to harass. Just taking part in the discussion. I've seen all sorts of price action, the topic diverted to news trading. News trading has all kinds of dynamics in play. Just stating it's not as simple as it seems.

Don't let your arrogance turn into a handicap.

Yeah but I already KNEW all that. WHY are you responding to something that I already knew and already commented on?

You know there is a message that says "New Messages have been posted since the last time you view them. Click Here", you need to click your mouse on the word "Here"; that word "Here" is a link that will show you all of the most recent messages to the thread. Maybe you are not aware of this feature?

I would think the big fish like Goldman, JP Morgan, Citadel, etc. get most of the price moving financial news releases well before they are broadcast to the public. This has been written about in books written by informed traders going back to the 30's.

In the 30's that would be highly likely... now however not really.

Although... 10 years ago there was this rumour that about 1hr or 2hrs before NFP, the markets would move in a certain way that could suggest there was some info dissipated earlier to some...

I've dabbled in stocks and options and have done ok. I like the liquidity of the most heavily traded commodities as well as the options on futures. I also like the leverage available with futures contracts.

I appreciate your advice. I like my job and am not trying to quit to trade full time. As a result, I won't have the pressure of paying the bills with trading. But like everyone here I want to make money - smart money.

  10. Great, so you already have trading experience, albeit with other instruments. That will certainly be helpful in getting familiar with futures. The leverage is indeed something to be very aware about: it can work to your advantage, but also easily take you out of the game. Risk management is important.
