Realistic Look at Pakistan

Discussion in 'Economics' started by trader#21, May 19, 2011.

  1. Just look at the response that the Wall Street protesters were met with the last couple of days, and that was tame. We criticize other nations and their use of force against peaceful protesters, but you better believe we will and do use equal force if ayone dares threaten our authority. I love this country, but we are hypocrites when it comes to freedom of expression.

  4. Lindsay Graham Considers Military Action Against Pakistan

"The best solution is for Pakistan to fight all forms of terrorism, embrace working with us so that we can deal with terrorism along their border, because it is the biggest threat to stability," he said. "But Pakistan is terrorism itself. They have made a tremendous miscalculation."

  6. She's the Pakistani Foreign Minister. Surprising that a country that oppresses women as they do would have her in a position like that. Maybe it's 'cause she's hot, and the political dudes like watching her talk...

  7. Obviously our government can not keep a secret and seem to leak info to the media to justify their agenda.

20,000 missing missles in libya = more $ to spend on national security.
Hussein and WMD = Big bonuses at haliburton

Listing to the jiberish regarding pakistan... looks like we will be engaged there next. Seems like we had made $ promises with the paki's we are looking to get out of. What better way then call them traitors to reneg on our contractual obligations.

  8. Problem is now we're up against Pakistans REAL allies...China. And there's a whole more of them than there are Americans, so looks like US better think this one through very thoroughly.

Meanwhile as billions are spent "promoting democracy" on the other side of the world, our country is being overrun by Mexican gangs as they cross our border unmolested on a daily basis.

How did our priorities get so screwed up? Oh yeah, big money being made by the defense contractors reaping the benefits of their no-bid cash cows. Ay chihuahua!!

  9. China backs Pak bid for non-permanent UNSC seat

BEIJING, 19 OCT: Backing Pakistan's bid to contest for a non-permanent berth in the UN Security Council, China today said it wants Islamabad to play a bigger role in maintaining international peace and security.
China attaches great importance to Pakistan's request for a seat on the UN Security Council, foreign ministry spokeswoman Ms Jiang Yu told a media briefing here.
Beijing supports Pakistan playing a bigger part in maintaining international peace and security, Ms Jiang said, noting that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic partners.
Pakistan had voiced its desire to have a seat on the UN Security Council at the 66th General Assembly session in New York in September.
Last year, China welcomed India's election as a non-permanent UNSC member, but it is yet to declare its stand on New Delhi's campaign to become a permanent member as part of a larger reform process of the United Nations.
China is the lone P-5 member in the UNSC which has not announced its support for India's bid for a permanent seat, though Chinese officials acknowledge that Beijing wants New Delhi to play a bigger role in the world body.
The UN Security Council has five permanent members (P-5) ~ China, France, Russia, the USA and Britain ~ and 10 other non-permanent member countries which are elected for a two-year term.

  10. Pakistan is taking nuclear paranoia to a horrifying new low. And it’s making the world a vastly more dangerous place in the process...
Except that Pakistan isn’t trying to safeguard its nukes from them. It’s trying to safeguard its nukes from us. The Navy SEAL raid in Abbottabad that killed Osama bin Laden has made important Pakistani generals think that the U.S. military’s next target is Pakistani nukes. So off the vans go, along what Ambinder and Goldberg term “congested and dangerous roads,” trying to throw off the scent of the U.S., with little more than hope to protect them from an adventurous highwayman.
