Real Trading Strategies

Discussion in 'Trading' started by downtickboy, Sep 14, 2002.

  1. Hey assface go read all the posts. I already stated I am not looking for the holy grail. I am putting in the work. Never said I would impliment any of the strategies here because a lot of them would not fit me. What Silk does works for him but I am not ready for the swings that his style has, but it was interesting to see what he does. I have thanked the poster who have added to the topic of the thread unlike you. I "practice" with real money everday. It is dumbshit posts like yours that add nothing and make the threads so long and then I have to post to defend myself. Since many people make stupid responses like yours I might as well come up with my own super_ego personality and start posting. At least I could entertain myself and make valuable contributions like you have.

  2. Might as well continue this thread off topic since that is where it is going anyway. I think you need to go back and read all my post from the beginning. I never wanted to replicate anyones strategy. Good luck sitting at your house figuring everything out yourself. I never knew I real successful trader that had all the answers. But it all depends on how much money you want to make I guess. If you are just doing it for fun then it will probably work for you. I did not drop out of highschool pal. Kind of a dumb comment since you do not know me. I graduated in the top 1% of my college at a top 25 school. I have had mentor and been a mentor. I was trying to get an interesting discussion going, but that did not work so now I am just killing time on a slow afternoon. I guess I have to take it for what it is worth. IT is funny the idea that I would beg for more specifics about someone trading style. However I guess you have to actually get a few posts on the topic to even see if that would happen:D . I posted what I have been doing so I am not TRYING to discuss anything that I have no divulged.

  3. No thanks, I won't read all your posts :D, my time is more valuable than that. I didn't say you'd get all the answers in that room. I only said you'd build a foundation, a core that has to be strong before you show up and try to chisel out the details by asking others and watching the dynamics of your system. It's funny you should say about how it depends on how much you wanna make. B/c I would claim it's just the opposite. If you just wanna scramble for crums, you might get into it and do that whole "learned by watching" stuff. Look at any large market player, who do they have developing those systems? MIT physics PhDs. Also, when they are hiring, the often emphasize they would prefer someone with no finace background - someone who would sit in that room and develop the foundation of the system.
Top 1%, good for you. Been there too. Let me guess, BS in business? :) I don't think it's an indicator.

  4. Why do traders fight so often? What would happen if the most well-known ET posters were locked in a 15x15 room for 2 hours?

  5. Hehehe, an interesting thought. I guess prior weight-lifting experience might come in handy :D

  6. I do not think the school thing is that important either but you brought it up in your post. I was just responding. Well if you did not read the background on thread by reading the other messages then you are wasting your time discussing topics that have already been covered. Hopefully you are not going to actually trade real money with this type of information gathering skills and attention to details. Making uninformed decisions is a good way to have the market roast your ass. I posted my trading style already so I am not sitting in a room dreaming up how to trade the markets. All real time and money baby. I have traded profitable for a few years now and want to expand my trading. But I have already said that. Hopefully a lot of people are not wasting to much valuable time reading this. Good thing it is slow right now.

  7. I don't know. I did not come here to fight or to pick one. I started what I thought was a valid thread and have been attacked so I am defending myself when attacked. I would rather have a real discussion instead of this nonsense but it seems that all threads eventually end up like this. I guess it just shows people really don't have much to add to the conversations and get bored. It is also easier for people to be a dick and act tough over the internet then in real life.

You have started many threads yourself and have on occasion been attacked too. Whey do you think it happens.

  8. That is the nature of forums. I have been on a number of them and they are all the same. You either grin and bear it or move on.

  10. That's a good question. I think it is several reasons. First, you have to understand the dynamics of this large group. You have several people here with very large egos, modest people, troublemakers, etc.

Nothing that you say or do will ever please everyone. If you start an interesting thread, there will be people who immediately assume you are just trying to get attention, boast about something or perhaps something along similar lines.

I've lurked this thread and think you have asked very interesting questions. In response to schooling, I could sit here and mention my credentials but that is unnecessary. As far as I'm concerned, a 4.0 GPA at a leading university doesn't necessarily mean squat as a predictor of success.

There are two things in this world that are important -- IQ and EQ. EQ is an emotional quotient that, in my opinion, is as important if not MORE important than brains.

However, that is digressing from your topic. I have looked over many trading systems and have decided to use my own system that I've developed because it is tradable and has given good results in PT (paper trading).

I don't think you can work on a system with a large group of people.

Please PM me to discuss any ideas you'd like to throw around. I'd rather work with one or two good people on a solid trading strategy because, the more people you add, the more crap you have to deal with.

Just look at all the finger-pointing, name-calling and fighting that takes place in here on a daily basis. Sometimes, the only difference between this place and an elementary school recess period is the fact that the kids running around during recess are more mature.
