Go back and read the posts again and count how many people contributed on the topic rather than attack me for asking the question. I think Silk and Breakout did. That encompassed 5 or so posts. The rest was off topic. (I might have missed a couple of posts when counting)
Go back an re-read the post. I never said anybody would be afraid of me in person. I was making a comment on how different people act over the internet than in real life. They tend to be nicer and more logical in real life. Over the internet they take on a differnt persona that a lot of times does not reflect who they really are. Do you feel like you are being attacked now? How does it feel? Now change places with me. Oh by the way I did not know this thread was turning ET upside down. Maybe by the end of this thread I will be at the highest ET level designation.
I don't think so. And I still think the topic is crazy if discussed publicly. I'm glad you are having your conversation. Someone MIGHT tell you smth useful. Why? B/c it's PRIVATE. Of course they will not reveal much in a publicly posted message. OK, Mr.Heedful and Attentive, I was not replying to your weightlifting jest, I was replying to your unsubstantiated smirk that people are hard on you only b/c they are not in front of you. YOU, my friend, were bragging about how @#$@#$ cool you are, that they would not be "dicks" to you had they not been away... Come on. I was not talking about some group of traders with 100 grand accounts, or less. I was talking about one of the top three IBanks. And I find their response to be a very smart one. You can bounce ideas off of others just like you, those still looking and developing (like your new friend Aphie). Those who got there already will not tell you what they are doing. BTW, taking advice from a PM I just got, I think I'm gonna put you on my ignore list Those PMs are a good way to communicate ideas indeed.
In that case, don't make your comments in such a condescending manner. Am I? LOL. You very well might. How informative that designation will be is a different question.
Nice goin' Vlad, i thought it was only ME that could antagonise peope so much! Do traders share specific information? SHOULD traders share specific information? All depends. Traders DO dicuss specific strategies among one another, usually when they are friends. Some people are more open to talking to strangers, some are not. Nothing really mysterious about this at all. Downtick, i don't think it's a totally crazy request you make, but it might be a little too much to expect people to share their strategies with a total stranger. You later told us a bit about the way you trade. By then though you'd already taken heaps of heat about the way you made your request. Maybe if you'd shared what you do from the start people wouldn't have been more receptive. Personally, i think with most strategies there isn't really any useful purpose served by telling someone your trading "secrets". I think it's usually done if you give enough of a shit about someone to help them out, or, if you have an 'information sharing' kind of relationship with someone. Would someone come right out on a public forum and telling everyone exactly how they trade? They might. Usually i'd question the intentions of such an action - it seems pretty stupid to me. But there's all types of people in this world, so maybe some might share useful trading strategies genuinely.
When did I state that I was so cool? Reading and comprehension classes are probably offered by a lot of community colleges in your area. You really read in deep into what I wrote and came up with bad interpretation of it. Maybe it is because you have worked yourself up so bad trying to bash me. I could be wrong in your case but most peoples personalities are not as outlandish as they act on a message board like this. But then again most people don't go around telling everyone how much they bench press either. Just so you know I have many different traders who I am friends with at many different companies and in many different states that I bounce ideas off of. Just thought I might find a few here. I know several traders at I-banks that got worked with their secret strategies. So just because an I-bank is using something it does not mean it is profitable or correct. That being said they also have a lot of very smart people working for them and have the money to throw at something big when it is working. What is funny about putting me on the ignore list (other than the fact I wrote this in response to you and you won't see it) is that you came to the thread I started and on a topic I wanted to talk about and attacked me and then got so worked up about my response that you want to ignore me. I noticed not one post you made was on the topic. If you thought it was a worthless thread you never had to respond in the first place. I did not ask for the grief but it was kind of entertaining for me on a slow afternoon.
that is very impressive.....although that wouldnt do you any good in a street fight with a finger in your eye; I get your point tough guy. I have to agree that you have to find what works for you; period..when I was trading prop we had a mentor and he was putting up very impressive numbers.....not one trader in the room could emulate what he did...not one...different strokes for different folks....
