See the 4th post on page 10 (default setting) He said winning trades will have to trade through target to be counted as a winner in his trade tally here. I'm not motivated to check if that's the case. Maybe other ET readers will care enough to check.

  2. I've respopnded twice more than I intended, but I am interested in seeing the integrity of the thread maintained for no other reason than to keep the harsh critics on the sidelines ( for a bit), and let the OP continue to post trades.

The price touched the target, but did not fill.

It was a good call in that the target was technically hit, but the trader would have ended with a loss as it finally broke down and would have been stopped out for the loss.

This trade cannot be counted as a winning trade.

T&S shows the price NOT filling at the target sell.

Only way to confirm either side is that he shows a broker statement of the fill (simulator or real money) or you show an image copy/data quotes copy of the time & sales.

However, if your data provider doesn't provide historical time & sales info for a few days...I do know in the past (as in several years ago) the CME itself did but I don't know if they still do nor do I care to research the fact.

Simply, next time this happens...make sure you copy your times & sales data and post it here as verification to prevent any debates.

Trendo, please reread the post you refer to. Then, quote it and post it here on ET if you think he said the phrase "trade through".

The dude had a bad day today. I think the real question is why did he refuse to put on any shorts today?

  5. Personally, I accept the "fill' for no other reason than the fact this is a paper trade (sim) exercise and it is common knowledge that sims hit selling fills on the 'ask' price.

I recall a similar fill on the buy side 'on the touch' a few days earlier.

Interesting all trades were 'long', but each to his own.

At least the calls are clear and methodical regardless of the outcome.

You're right. He didn't use the term "trade through." I used that term in my question to him. Maybe I didn't get a good read on his answer. It could be that he uses this English-as-a-second-language persona to conveniently cloud his answers.

Hey, Winborn, where are you from? Are you counting trades that touch your target price without trading through as winners in your track record here? Please answer yes or no.

  8. I agree NiN, but if a tally is to be kept, it needs to reflect reality.

In reality, this trade was not only a fail, but stopped out for a loss. Treat it as a real trade.

Good thread OP, please keep posting....just watch the data for accuracy...the scrutiny will blow the intent.

  9. No of Trades:140
    Profitable Trades:72
    Gross Loss: (148 ) Points
    Gross Profit: 235.5 Points
    Total P/L: 87.5 Points
    Profit Factor: 1.59
    Win Rate: %51

Today was a bad day for your signals but looking at your signals as a whole, I see great potential.
Your win rate for September is only 51%. The profit factor is not bad. When I take your trades I usually adjust your stop. As a result some of the signals that you have marked as stop filled, have been actually winners for me in real money account.
So here is my suggestion. Consider placing larger stops. Your win rate will be much higher. I do not think the profit factor will get lower because even though it is true that losing trades will loose more money, the additional winning trades (because of larger stops) would more than compensate for it and it may even lift the profit factor.
    Thanks for sharing
