"Real" memory usage

    When I open task manager in XP and select the processes tab then add the column under 'mem usage' it is significantly less than the total commit charge under the performance tab.

    Why is this?
     
  2. A lot of the program's memory usage is swapped out to VM. Also the OS uses A LOT of memory for stacks & heaps and stuff that doesn't show up in the Taskman as a distinct process.
