    >>I think that you are being scammed. You should be able to make your own continuous contracts using MS-Excel. <<

    Jim,

There are many Futures Markets and to make continuous contracts and maintain is more work than I want to do.

Now, add to that maintaining an Options History database. The work effort would be huge.

I appreciate your comments, but I am not sure that you see the work effort involved. Writing your own program to do these things is a large scale project.

In addition, I sometimes look at all assets traded. That could be over 7,000 assets. It's tremendous. Now, I don't look at all of this at the same time. However, I do go back and forth and look at various assets on a regular basis during my trading systems development.

Maybe you do believe I am "lazy", but this work effort would be tremendous, when you think, that if I down load all of the current data for all assets today (let's say 7,000 plus assets), and then maintain that on a regular basis. Wow!).

    >>You should be able to purchase historical data by paying for it just once, and then never paying for it again.<<

Agreed, but then you have to maintain it. That's the problem. So in reality, you want to down load it once and truly want to update it on a regular basis. That's where it gets very time consuming.

    >>You can update the data for free by using IB's data.<<

Nope. I'll tell you why. IB only maintains a very short history, so that I would have to keep 7,000 assets running in real time and collecting data. Not realistic.

    >> I am not very familiar with Optionvue, but I imagine you are paying through the nose because you aren't doing your homework or tolerating your learning curves on how to find reasonably priced and reasonably flexible software to do what you need.<<

I have done my homework in the past. I need their history database that is maintained. I imagine you do not understand the amount of data that needs to be collected on Options data chains. It's tremendous.

It really comes down to volume and a very time consuming process. Maintaining a few assets is not a problem. It's when you want to be able to look at any data available for over the 7,000 assets, that's where the problem is.

Totally true, that I can look at other Options Software, but OptionVue has some very real benefits and does have large expense.

So far, while it's great that your feedback says, maintain your own data and don't be lazy, it's much more effort that you imagine. I have been a programmer in my past life. Maintaining this data on all of the universe of assets is very large.

Let's do some high level thinking on the process. First, I have to make individual records for 7,000 assets. So need a database for that. Then, I have to associate price files for those assets. Then, option chains on a good number of high volume assets is huge.

    >>I'm trying to be helpful, not insulting.<<

    Understood.

    Jim,

Please do not feel bad. I truly am not lazy. However, keeping data maintained for 7,000 assets is a very large job and then with adding data for Option Chains it's just tremendous.

I appreciate your feedback. You made me look at why I do want a commercial data feed(s).

Remember, I don't look at all assets at same time, but I regulary switch back and forth depending on what trading system development I am doing.

I do agree that OptionVue5 and eSignal charge very high prices.

    Thank you for your feedback.
