  1. Romney isn't behind because Obama has done such a terrible job.

    Obama may even lose Illinois.

  2. No,I'm not.2 weeks earlier and and later Mondale was beating Reagan in many polls.Reagan did not have a consistent lead over Mondale like Obama has had over Romney.Obama usually has been beating Romney in 20 out of 25 polls

    WaPo, 7/23/84:

Conducted at the end of the Democratic National Convention last week, the Newsweek-Gallup Poll of 1,006 registered voters showed 48 percent supporting Mondale and his vice-presidential nominee, Rep. Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-N.Y.), 46 percent favoring Reagan and Vice President Bush , and 6 percent undecided.

Newsweek even had Mondale up +18 in Aug 84

"But nothing like in 1984. That was the most embarrassing example of the latter kind of survey. It predates PSR but remains seared into our institutional memory. The day the Democratic convention ended in San Francisco in 1984, the Newsweek poll showed Walter Mondale 18 points ahead of President Ronald Reagan. Mondale ended up getting clobbered, 49 states to one.

For readers and voters, says Hugick, the best way to judge the flow of polls is to look at them all."

  3. Clinton and Bush both had a legit 3rd party candidate.Cant compare a 2 man race with a 3 man race

Clinton was beating dole and bush by big numbers because of Perot. If Paul ran 3rd party Obama would be beating Romney by similar numbers

What? That makes no sense at all. Even if I were to grant you that screwed up logic, Reagan had a 10+ lead so YOU ARE STILL WRONG.

  6. And Mondale had a + 18 point lead

Reagan was not consistently beating Mondale in polls the way Obama has been consistently beating Romney in 20 out of 25 national polls and in most swing state polls

  7. So you don't understand how a credible 3rd party conservative candidate can affect the polls and the election outcome ? Really ?

Look up 1984 and notice that there was not a single poll that put Mondale on top in the entire year.

You seem to have a nasty little habit of making stuff up.

According to Gallup, in mid-August 1984 Reagan had an 11 point lead. Game, set, match.

  9. You're right.. shouldn't be even close.

If all Americans were true to our roots, Odumbo would be behind by a LANDSLIDE. But unfortunately, he's managed to put 50% of the populace on the government dole (at the expense of the productive half of the citizenry).. and therein lies his political support... sick as it is.
