Man, don't wait for some political entity to pull you out of the mess, just do it.... eat organic, exercise, learn Tai Chi, grow legacy veggies... learn to game the debt system even if that is your cup of tea... get out of debt at any cost, etc... just do everything you want to do as well as you can, these politicians are never going to solve anything, they are bought and paid to screw things up...

  4. "If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." --Reagon

    I like this quote.

It's Reagan, not Reagon. It's in the title of this thread, for those who can read.

The 2 letters aren't even near each other on the keyboard so there is no fat finger excuse here.

And the actual quote, not just some snippet:

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Other notable Reagan quotes on his view of big government:

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

Man is not free unless government is limited.

Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.

And a rather topical for today's political environment:

Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.

"Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives."

In order to get elected in 1980, Ronnie invited J. Falwell and the rest of the social conservatives into the republican party which is in direct conflict with the above statement.

He also ran up the national debt with his trickle down economics.

(Point being: He talked out of two sides of his ass)

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802: "I believe that banking
institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of
their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

I'm pretty sure that TJ - if he were alive today - would be neither a republican nor a democrat. Neither would he be a politician. The leaders of today and tomorrow wouldn't be seen dead in a political party and probably not in any other established structure either.

Was going to say something but it's not worth the effort. Oh what the hell.
Politicians take our money and give it to corporations who then give some of it to the politicians campaign funds and some of it to lobbyists to influence politicians they have already bought.
    Great system!

  9. The funny thing is Reagan tripled the size of the debt and pushed through massive spending increases. Also, China received permanent WTO status under G. W. Bush.
