40yo 6'2"+ 230lbs 355 incline bench for 3 reps Fortunately, 4 halotestins taken before the fight will make up for whatever speed and power was lost to age.
i knew you were a major lifter, but jeeze! if you trained for a competition your flat should exceed 400. good thing you would be up one weight class. with those stats you could compete (lifting) and place second or third. you probably do not have the time though. it is difficult for me too; but being in the ny/ct area there are lots of choices. i tried boxing and it is very difficult (built up too much lactic acid) my current stats: 41 yrs old 5' 11" 221 pounds flat bench with pause (increasing slowly every week) 390 (one rep)
My shoulders are overdeveloped. I can do nearly as much on incline as flat. Do you guys use bench shirts? I've never used one.
after taking 8 years off from competitions; i come back to train (at a specific gym for training) ; every guy is using shirts...except for me because i am not with it yet. the shirts add a minimum of 50 to 75 pounds to your lift. you gotta see them live. as soon as you bring the weight down, the shirt does the lift. total bullshit imo. problem is of course, they are legal and make such a difference , you must use them. there is one group who does not allow them, but because of that , it limits my choices. for instance , open bench for 220 class winner was 590 lbs. raw bench was 380 in 220 class huge difference. that was one big meet. usa records are probably closer in weights; but still wide.
Hmm, 43 yr old 6'1" 170 lbs Bench 120 Thing is, 10 yrs of classical ballet (Russian), gives me an overall condition and a look which says "I can hold my own". That, combined with a steel jaw (found out the hard way) means I'm not too concerned about mixing it up, but I obvsiouly never had the raw power to take on the bigger guys (uh, especially jailhouse). Boy you're not kidding.. Not only the shirts but the 1/4 inch thick wraps they wrap their elbows and wrists with, as soon as you drop the weight the shirt and wraps bounce the weight half way up, all you need is tricep strength to lock out. I wrapped my elbows and got 495 before, I have to be honest and say that it wasn't even that hard. My raw max is 425, but that was back a couple years ago when I was 275 and on a boatload of androgens. I go for pump, I love cable crossovers, slow tempo'd flies, and pullovers. I have some minor shoulder ailments currently, looking to start going heavy on bench here soon.
