It's time to point out the obvious to Captain Obvious. Trying to minimalize COVID-19 and claim it is a media driven event is absurd. Tell that to all the families who have buried loved ones and all the people still suffering long term health effects since "recovering". No one I ever knew died of the flu. In the a short timeframe of weeks COVID-19 killed six of my high school classmates in N.Y. COVID also killed another parent I had formerly coached soccer with locally in N.C. - he was perfectly healthy when I saw him at a holiday party in December. Flu did not cause our ICUs in many states to overflow with patients; COVID certainly has. Why don't you ask the medical staff in hospitals if they think that COVID-19 is merely media gaslighting.
I challenged your 6 high school classmates claim before, but didn't get an answer. I think you said you were in your 50s? What was the size of your high school class? I'd like to see what the CFR for your class was and whether it fits with the demographics out there for the country. Oh, and I knew some really old people that died from the flu. The facts clearly state that total deaths aren't outside historical norms - with the exception of states that forced nursing homes to take Covid patients. With data like that it is really hard to be up in arms over Covid like you are.
To say it isn't politically and media driven is denial of reality. It is indisputable that the whole Covid scare has been media driven from the jump. You know some people who have died from Covid. My condolences but that cannot be the determining factor. I do not personally know a single person who had died from it. Does that mean no deaths are occurring? I can count on one hand the number of people I know who have tested positive for Covid, yet every single person I know has had a bad case of the flu at some point in their lives, more than once in most cases. Does that mean there is nearly zero risk of being infected with Covid? I know people who have died in car accidents. Should we never drive again? I know many people who have died from alcoholism. Shall we ban alcohol? How many people you or I know who have died from whatever is completely irrelevant. The fact is the chance of Covid death is a statistical zero and that alone should be the determining factor in decision making. Instead the only factor is how much political milage can be gained using Covid as a weapon against your opponents. If there is no such guy as a president Trump Covid-19 isn't even a topic of discussion and never would have been.
The captain was repeatedly unable to calculate a percentage, conditional probabilities.. Good luck with that.
You have no idea of what longer term complications may be and neither does anyone else. Talk to me in 5 years about that when there is actual evidence. Chance of dying from Covid is near zero for all practical purposes and transmission it is no more than the common flu. The left has given this but some kind of magical powers. Why? Politics, that's why.
His mind is simply incapable of grasping the issue. He gets an idea in his head and reality be damned after that.
You are bright enough to grasp the problem, but you have a big mouth. By the way the plural of feet is not "feets". That's "feets" statistically now.
Let me ask.... are all the other countries across the face of the earth simply imagining that COVID-19 is reaping a devastating toll -- and they are all just locking down due to a media frenzy to stick it to Trump.
