As noted in the statistics this year -- the rate of growth of child suicide and overall suicide slowed in 2020 -- this reverses the trend for over 10 years.

Despite all of your alarmist articles from fanatics trying to claim that COVID lockdowns would cause suicide to soar --- the reality shown by the actual data for 2020 is very different. There was no great increase in suicides and the actual rate of growth in suicides slowed significantly.

Where did you find this data? I find it rather interesting that you'll tell us we have to wait for Sweden's final data to be released because the numbers aren't finished yet, but you'll then make a statement about child suicides having declined in 2020 from a 10 year trend.

Can you share your source or is this going to be another "go find it"?

Suicides in 2020 has been released as data in the United States.... there are previous links I posted with the information.

Sweden's death data is not finalized by the nation until the spring.

Let's provide the previously posted information once again...

Trends in suicide during the covid-19 pandemic
    https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4352
"Nevertheless, a reasonably consistent picture is beginning to emerge from high income countries. Reports suggest either no rise in suicide rates (Massachusetts, USA11; Victoria, Australia13; England14) or a fall (Japan,9 Norway15) in the early months of the pandemic."

Suicide rates during the pandemic remained unchanged. Here’s what we can learn from that.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/10/21/suicide-rates-pandemic-unchanged/

There's no data to back claim of 'skyrocketing' suicides during shutdown
    https://www.politifact.com/factchec...-no-data-back-claim-skyrocketing-suicides-du/

As a further note the rate of teen suicide increase slowed in 2020. Teen suicides have been increasing each year over a decade -- the rate of increase slowed down. From a big picture perspective after increasing over a decade, suicides in the U.S. decreased in 2019. When a final accounting is made for 2020 this trend of suicide decreases is likely to continue or remain unchanged.

  5. Dont generalize a whole school system.. D.C. Chicago....NYC.... great schools in the middle to upper class neighborhoods...poor neighborhoods get no resources and buildings falling apart. it is not the teacher's faults or the students in most cases.

I just read an NPR article from this month stating that the data has not yet been released.

I am not going to even read you bullshit until you verify those articles address child suicide and attempted suicide rates.

I gave you articles last time that said areas are seeing and alarming increased in child suicide and suicide attempts.

gwbe - lying again. unless the nationwide stats just came out.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/health...-pandemic-may-be-driving-up-kids-suicide-risk

Now, there are no nationwide numbers on suicide deaths in 2020 yet, and researchers have yet to clearly link recent suicides to the pandemic. Yet on the ground, there's growing concern.

NPR spoke with providers at hospitals in seven states across the country, and all of them reported a similartrend: More suicidal children are coming to their hospitals — in worse mental states.

"The kids that we are seeing now in the emergency department are really at the stage of maybe even having tried or attempted or have a detailed plan," says Dr. Vera Feuer, director of pediatric emergency psychiatry at Cohen Children's Medical Center of Northwell Health in New York. "And we're admitting to the hospital more kids than usual because of how unwell they are."

She has seen a slight increase in 10-to-11-year-olds attempting, but the majority of kids she sees are teenagers.

Other places are seeing a rise in 2020 numbers compared with 2019 as well.

    for instance...

    https://www.aappublications.org/news/2020/12/16/pediatricssuicidestudy121620

Rates of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts were higher in some months in 2020 compared to 2019, according to a study of 11- to 21-year-olds in a major metropolitan area of Texas.

Significantly higher rates of suicide-related behaviors appear to have corresponded with times when COVID-19 stressors and community responses (e.g., stay-at-home orders and school closures) were heightened, indicating that youth experienced elevated distress during these periods, according to “Suicide Ideation and Attempts in a Pediatric Emergency Department Before and During COVID-19” (Hill RM, et al. Pediatrics. Dec. 16, 2020).

Who knew being forced to be cooped up as a family would result in the obvious?

In my opinion - being cooped up with your family allowed parents (and family members) to recognize the symptoms and better address depression of children -- allowing for interventions which probably had a slight positive impact on the suicide rate. The claims that COVID "lockdowns" would cause the suicide rate to soar was fanciful political narrative based on a faulty premise and proven not to have occurred.

Of course -- all of this is based on having parents/guardians -- who give a damn. Making the assumption that most do.

More concerning is the small minority of households where children are neglected or abused. The reports of neglect and abuse have dropped significantly -- however this does not mean the neglect/abuse has dropped. The issue is that most neglect/abuse is discovered & reported by teachers in the schools in the U.S. --- leading the intervention of child services, etc.

I already showed you the data... you lying moron..

Reports are down because the kids were not in the same level of care.
School counselors, after school coaches and counselors and teachers are not seeing as many kids..

However I showed you the data you imbecile.

Incidences of hospitalization for child abuse went up significantly as of the date I showed you the articles.

    You are so dishonest.
