There are always going to be one off cases where kids die from some virus. Its just numbers. So your rush to post whenever it happens is equivalent to when politicians dance on graves of shooting victims to push gun legislation. That's what you are, the COVID pimp.

The identity of the victim was not reported, and it's unclear whether the child had preexisting conditions.

Of course she had pre-existing conditions.

How many kids died in Texas from COVID? I can tell you how many died in Florida.

    9

    Out of 2.8 MILLION.

I don't have enough zeros on my fucking calculator to get that CFR. But, according to you, those almost 3 million kids should stay home because COVID.

    You're a gasbag.

One off case after one off case after one off case....... the "COVID is not a problem crowd" keep pushing that students and teachers have nothing to worry about. They say any death is just a "one off"

They claim COVID will not be transmitted easily in K-12 schools as we have school after school closing just a couple weeks after re-opening for on-campus learning.

How many school students died of COVID? How many teachers? Since the crisis began?

I keep asking for you to provide these numbers so we can determine what the risk is. But you're more interested in dancing on gravestones and tear jerker stories.

Ward’s family said she had underlying health issues like diabetes.
    Of course she did.

There are plenty of studies on this subject from across the world now.
Here is one from the CDC for a study period ending on September 19th.
    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6939e2.htm#T1_down

Of course, your interpretation of the data is that the risk is acceptable. The interpretation of the majority of disease experts and medical experts is that the risk is not acceptable, I'll go with the mainstream medical experts. Especially when the medical experts point out that most school systems are not even following basic COVID safety standards.

Of course there are ways of re-opening schools with reduced student populations (only 1/2 or 1/3 students as a time) and proper precautions (masks, reduced contact, etc.) that greatly reduce the risk and make attending schools safer. But many school systems are not following these recommendations -- and many times they are hard to enforce with the students.

There needs to be national standards
how schools must operate on-campus for COVID that every school system in the country must follow. Of course, Trump nixed the CDC providing national standards to be followed for safety in schools. The standards must include the criteria for when schools must close again -- including when the positivity rate in their local community goes above a set threshold

Before you get all narrative on me, is there any death data in that link? Because cases are all I see.

We're not debating that kids don't get sick. We're talking about how many of them die. Where is the data source you are using to determine how many kids die from COVID?

Yes.... go see Table 1 --- it has death and hospitalization data for the group of students studies.

So am I reading this right that 51 kids died age 17 or lower out of 277,285 COVID identified patients in this age group?

Ok, so this implies a fatality rate of .0001839%. Do you agree with this?

Also, do you agree this is probably understated (though to what degree we cannot say) somewhat given that there are probably children who are asymptomatic or not sick enough to be included in the denominator of this calculation?
