The Education Department is investigating five states with mask-mandate bans, saying the rules may violate laws protecting students with disabilities. Monday, August 30, 2021 1:48 PM EST The department’s civil rights head wrote to state education leaders in Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Utah, notifying them the department’s Office for Civil Rights would determine whether the prohibitions are restricting access for students who are protected under federal law. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/30/us/politics/biden-masks-investigations-special-education.html
Does not bode well for K-12 schools... Kentucky's COVID-19 surge spreading fastest among youngsters https://www.wlwt.com/article/kentuckys-covid-19-surge-spreading-fastest-among-youngsters/37435652#
So it only matters to you if the kids are dead? Kids in the hospital don't matter. Kids with Long Covid don't matter. You want a body count. If this was polio you would be claiming that all those kids in iron lungs are meaningless since they are not dead.
Well, it certainly should matter a HELL of a lot more if kids are dead, yes. How many died? You don't want to tell us because kids almost never, ever die from COVID. How many are permanently disabled, crippled, etc (to your silly polio comparison)? As for whether it matters if kids are in the hospital, of course it does. But how many vs. the last, say 10 years? Because the only way to say it is a tragedy is if it is more of a tragedy than normal.
Good. Hopefully these little tyrants in training are retired and learn to follow the will of the people who elected them.
Just so we remember how effective clean cloth and surgical masks are... Then consider how often kids touch dirty ones. https://aip.scitation.org/doi/10.1063/5.0057100 Commonly used cloth masks work at 9 percent efficiency and Surgical masks work at 12% efficiency.
Yet -- even as stated in the study -- masks are 70% to 80% effective at stopping the respiratory virus spread. Recent observational studies and meta-analyses of mask effectiveness have estimated that mask usage reduces the risk of respiratory virus spread by 70% to 80%.22 Efficacy of home-made masks at preventing spread of influenza showed that surgical masks are three times more effective at blocking micro-organism transmission than home-made masks23–25 although none of these studies include randomized control trials.26 There is, however, evidence that communities in which masks were in widespread use exhibited significantly reduced community spread.24,25
Your links all go to one study... and it confirms exactly what I wrote above... see the bold. . The results demonstrate that the apparent exhalation filtration efficiency is significantly lower than the ideal filtration efficiency of the mask material. Nevertheless, high-efficiency masks, such as the KN95, still offer substantially higher apparent filtration efficiencies (60% and 46% for R95 and KN95 masks, respectively) than the more commonly used cloth (10%) and surgical masks (12%),
