AP-NORC poll: Very few Americans back full school reopening https://apnews.com/b133f482b2eba88f8bd733e2d15d13ae Virtual instruction. Mandated masks. Physical distancing. The start of school will look very different this year because of the coronavirus — and that’s OK with the vast majority of Americans. Only about 1 in 10 Americans think daycare centers, preschools or K-12 schools should open this fall without restrictions, according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs. Most think mask requirements and other safety measures are necessary to restart in-person instruction, and roughly 3 in 10 say that teaching kids in classrooms shouldn’t happen at all. Why can't teachers just wear masks and use hand sanitizer? We are told day and night that wearing a mask and using some hand sanitizer are the best defense we have against the virus. All other professions are wearing masks at their workplace. Do the masks only work for them but not for teachers? Does the magic virus know the difference between professions? The masks either work or they don't, make the decision. Decision making is the problem though isn't it? The shell game must continue until...yes, you guessed it, November. Until then the game playing will continue. The schools being closed is just another disruption used as a political weapon. This whole Covid scare has sunk to the level of Russian operatives and collusion. Nothing, absolutely nothing to support all the wild eyed hysteria.
So tell us Captain Obvious - how do you socially distance children in a classroom for 8 hours per day. Effective prevention of transmission requires both masks and social distancing. Most classrooms with 30 children in them do not have space to allow social distancing. Tell us how you will keep the masks on Kindergartners and keep them from touching one another.
Ok whoever compared a grocery clerk who sees customers one at a time and 90% adults to a teacher who would be in a room with 30 kids with no space for social distancing and crammed in hallways with kids who are not the best listeners with respect to masks and cleaning hands is just being a troll. I was all in favor of the 2 days in person but even that was not easy in a large school with 2000 kids and 30 kids per class. The start of school is about 1 month away and many counties do not have this completely under control. I can go into the grocery like I did today and not bump into anyway and barely interact with the clerk. A teacher would be all up in your kid's business all day with 30 per class, teaching maybe 3 or 4 classes a day if high school or the same kids all day in K-6th. Let me tell you an anecdote why teachers dont trust some of you fucktarded parents. First some of you parents are the ones being videod bitching about masks but put that aside. My nephew is in GBW's state. He is playing summer lacrosse, maybe risky but they are just practicing and following strict separation rules and just passing and conditioning so no real contact. Still a risk but all the famlies have been isoalting and following the rules. If every kid has shown no symptoms and pass temperature check and every family attests no COVID positive or contact with anyone then the kid is cleared to play. OR SO SHE WE WOULD ALL THINK. Sis is told by one mom she tested positive for COVID but is still going to send her son to practice 3x a week, is not quarantined and is NOT going to tell the COACH. My sister lost her shit and told the coach her son is not going to practice anymore and the reason why. The COVIDIOT probably is going to be pissed her "SECRET" got out but that cunt put 15 boys and all their families at risk. Not sure what the coach did and waiting for the update. That bitch is the reason why I don't trust some of you fucktards....because you will gladly keep it quiet because you think it is nothing but have no clue if someone else could catch it. This is why we cannot have nice shit becuase it just takes one funt (figure out the combo) to play by her own rules. Now you want a teacher to trust 30- 90 parents a day 5 days a week right now? I understand their position even though I wish we could go back. But I know if we start virtual we can get back to in person quickly hopefully.
The children are at virtually zero risk. The teachers can adjust. The old and fat ones can stay home. Risk of death and transmission have been exaggerated, in many cases outright lied about. I believe nothing we're being told about this. Total bullshit, nothing but politics.
No teachers give a fuck about your opinion. 1100+ deaths every day in the US now and you are on here posting shit still. Nothing about this virus is political beyond the deniers like you that refuse to get in line and get it under control. And yes, this rhetoric is damaging towards that end even if you take the other precautions.
the beauty of collective bargaining from getting an education in a marketable skill in demand that's not easily replaceable.
‘I may have signed my own death warrant’: Teacher regrets her Trump vote as schools pushed to reopen during COVID-19 pandemic A regretful Republican voter fears she may have unwittingly consigned herself to death by voting against Hillary Clinton four years ago. Nancy Shively is a special education teacher and lifelong Republican from Oklahoma, who voted for President Donald Trump in 2016 as the “less bad of two bad choices,” but she wrote a column for USA Today explaining that she made a grave error. “When the pandemic hit, the incompetence of the man for whom I had voted and the complicity of everyone around him forced me to admit that I could no longer maintain any kind of self-respect as a Republican,” Shively wrote. “So even though I had voted Republican in every presidential election since 1976, I changed my voter registration to independent and I will be voting for Joe Biden in November.” “Nevertheless,” she added, “I am still haunted because, deep down, I fear that with that vote I may have signed my own death warrant.”
