You are all fucking hypocrites Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate should not confirm a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia until after the 2016 election — an historic rebuke of President Obama’s authority and an extraordinary challenge to the practice of considering each nominee on his or her individual merits.
Many Republicans in Congress and in the 2016 presidential field unified behind McConnell, arguing that the timing of Scalia’s death — it would be the first confirmation vote since Anthony Kennedy to be held this close to an election — made it necessary to leave the appointment to the next elected president.
2016 - Before the GOP leader had even put the hammer down, Sens. Rubio of Florida and Cruz of Texas had already urged McConnell to block a new confirmation. Rubio said the “next president” must nominate a justice equal to Scalia, while Cruz bluntly said it is the Senate’s duty to put the brakes on confirmation for a year.
it's already being spun as "this time's different because we're in power & only 1st term of the incumbent" Time for dems to demand no confirmation because of "the McConnell rule"
They're all a bunch of hypocrites with zero principles. What's your point? You trying to sell me on the idea that leftists would do anything different if they had an edge? Please. You lefties can wring your hands for the next month and a half because that's what you pearl clutching soyboys do, but there will be no confirmation of anyone prior to the election. No votes, no time, too much political uncertainty, all equals way too much risk putting in on some fast track.
