Although he's getting closer, he still doesn't address WHY all of these things are happening. Sure the public schools suck and the wealth gaps are bigger than ever, but really and truly - WHY? There are many issues in this world that get solved with something that seems counterintuitive. This country is wide open in terms of opportunities and you can find many many examples of people that went from being poor (and not speaking the language) to vast riches. But forget about them for a second, just think about the same kinds of people who went from poor to not poor, working stiffs that just kept their heads down and did the right thing and took advantage of all the opportunities that this country affords everyone. There has to be a collective interest in self improvement. That's the big component I see missing in the US. Education is huge, but the real root causes of much of this are likely a bit too sensitive and deep for them to really delve into.
