Many players buy pieces of +ev players action. This is done to hedge risk (it's more likely you will make money if you back players that are +ev) and win money in a game/event you cannot, or choose not to play in. In this model money can change hands frequently, and others can often be owed money, but not in the sense that you think they are "owed"
Don, this sounds good, i look forward to seeing what you guys have up your sleeves. please give us a preview so those of us that are serious can start the registration process (and be ready to trade jan 2nd).
Sequiturs are about one that follows the other. One post says: "Don, this sounds good, i look forward to seeing what you guys have up your sleeves. please give us a preview so those of us that are serious can start the registration process (and be ready to trade jan 2nd)." The Nest post says: "See PM. Don" The definition of a shill is: A decoy who acts as an enthusiastic customer in order to stimulate the participation of others While I don't know whether one is a shill for the other, they certainly seem to an outsider to fit the definition. With all due respect to the board and its mods, it strikes me funny that a very mild post such as "Does this look like a shill to you guys" should be deleted by Mods. Certainly I respect that members who pay as sponsors should receive special posting privelages - but there are many posts on this board calling posters all kinds of vile stuff and yet the mere quetstion of "is this shilling" gets a delete and a PM warning. Is this board so fixed that the free exchange of opinions is so squashed? I am a market professional with over 3 decades of experience. I am also a published author. While it is no secret that I am in comtempt of Don Bright and the way he operates his firm, I have been very careful in evey post to make sure that I made sure that what I was posting was seen as my opinion and my opinion only. If it looks fishy, smells fishy then............ The last 2 traders and 1 of the programmers I took on came from one of these trading forums, I post on these boards for 2 reasons 1) to try and raise the discusiion above the level of the sameO, sameO and 2) to note either technical or trading talent for my firm. Jack
jack, don't quit your day job you are no detective. i have no relationship with bright and given the content of don's PM i probably won't in the future. not because the info was good or bad, it just doesn't fit my criteria. that said, Bright trading is one of the few honest firms out there along with Echo and JCtrading. it's none of my business why you continue the drama with don.. but leave me the fuck out of it, do you understand that?
Here I have fixed this for you: 'I post on these boards for 2 reasons 1) To troll Don Bright whilst coming across like a sore loser 2) to waste everybody's time. Good Trading
Snoop, Sorry about that, my mistake - was going on smell alone. To be clear about my sentiments towards Don and his shop - I think that in some ways and most probably in the areas of financial stability and compliance, Don's shop is probably one of the better if not best of those stilll operating. "Each person has two bankrolls, one contains his wealth and the other his time left alive. How you spend from these bankrolls is the ultimate arbiter of the quality and worth of your life." I am passionate about the markets and trading. My work desk operates 4 Dell workstations and 19 monitors with more in another workspace for systems optimizations. My living comes from this work. I spend a bit from one of my bankrolls to troll/bash Don because while I believe that he operates completely within all legal compliance requirements - I don't much like the guy, I have been offended by some of what he has tried to sell me and most important - I think of his methods and model as predatory on those among our trading community least able to either afford the venture or quantify its risks. There are all kinds of prop shop models. I believe that Don's model is one that will take on most any who has the dough and can meet compliance. Then he makes sure the trader operates within boundaries that keep most of the risk on the trader's shoulder while charging the trader high juice and other fees. I favor a model where the operator is so selective of his traders and confident in the support he provides that the traders have no capital at risk and the profits are shared. The technologies and methods used in this kind of operation exist and are availabe to any with the dough and the ability to understand them. For me, in addition to everything else, one look at Don's website screams from a time and place that is not today and not today's markets, technologies, methods or models. Jack
Glad to hear you mention my website Jack. I have done this myself since 1995 and it looks like it, LOL. It has worked really well for me, and I just recently sold the stocktrading.com domain name from me personally to the company, as part of my retirement plan (not retiring yet, don't start jumping and screaming yet, LOL)..... and I have turned over this project to my new COO to bring up to date. I haven't worried about "bling" - and it shows, but I enjoy doing everything myself, and am just now out growing that. So, part of of our new direction and plans for 2013 will include a fully updated website. If anyone still wants to barter for web work, let me know..I have turned down so many over the years. Thanks to everyone (snoop, londonkid among others) for keeping me, but more importantly, Bright Trading in your sights.... and a special thanks to those who know me well and have offered their support. Now, get back to trading guys, let this distraction go away. I'm sure Ray Bitar will get whatever he has coming to him, he has had zero to do with Bright since he started Full Tilt, as they say, nothing to see here. Trade well everyone, this last month has been one of our best, hope it's yours too. Don edit: Our latest and greatest automated programs allows traders, who are not programmers, to use simple to use parameter adjustments to work their own strategies. And, as mentioned prior, our very top, most profitable traders, tried about 10 platforms and other technologies, and found that they see so much more with the latest Redi platform, api, Fix capacity, etc. that there is nothing else they can use. Their words, not mine. FWIW
