  1. Bernie came close to being relevant but faded real fast. Tony claims the progressives control the party but I see a lot of evidence to the contrary in that they have little say on who their party nominates.

I dont think progressives staying home lost the election for Hillary.... she did a good job of that all by herself losing MI/WI/PA by ignoring them completely. Independent candidate took voters from her and she lost. Her failure 1000%.

Biden won because all those voters who thought "Hillary got this" got scared after 4 years of trump and came out in large numbers. BOTH trump and biden got record number of votes so the entire election was energized.

Progressives can sit home in 2024 if they want but if GOP wins no one wants to hear from the whiniest wing of the dem party.

  2. SO they should not complain at all because their protest votes in 2016 and HRC's failures cost her 3 states that were blue which would have handed her an easy victory. It was hers to lose and she did it amazingly well.

What's the general thinking here in the politics section having to do with campaign finance as it is structured today?

I didn't say that,I said they have enough numbers to sink the nominee.Black voters pick the democrat nominee, black and progressive voter turnout decide if they win.

Jill Stein got a million more votes in 2016 than she did in 2012.Those progressives and the ones who stayed home hurt her badly.

She did do amazingly well with moderates, which is why I say moderates alone will not when a democrat the general election.

Biden won because he had high black and progressive turnout .He got that turnout because he promised blacks police reform and progressives more progressive shit than Bernie did.

I have no idea about the forum but I’m for total transparency and limited donations. That’s good start. Have to get rid of these PACs too.

Progressives are an important wing of the party but I agree with you, the base of the democrat party is moderate to conservative in reality.

  10. Yet they still might keep the Senate, because the GOP is that bad. 10 years ago Ted Cruz was the extremist bringing down the party. Now he’s basically the establishment. He seems reasonable compared to some of the clowns running like Herschel Walker. In the past people like him would have been seen as fringe unelectable candidates and they never would have made it through a primary. Now the dumber the better for the GOP. Roe v. Wade being overturned was very bad for them as well. That’s going to bring a lot of people to the polls who were probably going to stay home otherwise.
