After all the doom and gloom talk from liberals on this site, and as well John Kerry during his campaigns, it is a liberal who wants to reinstate the draft.

"If we're going to challenge Iran and challenge North Korea and then, as some people have asked, to send more troops to Iraq, we can't do that without a draft," Rangel said.

He said having a draft would not necessarily mean everyone called to duty would have to serve. Instead, "young people (would) commit themselves to a couple of years in service to this great republic, whether it's our seaports, our airports, in schools, in hospitals," with a promise of educational benefits at the end of service.

    Very interesting.

  2. Rep. Charles Rangel (news, bio, voting record), D-N.Y., said Sunday he sees his idea as a way to deter politicians from launching wars.

"There's no question in my mind that this president and this administration would never have invaded Iraq, especially on the flimsy evidence that was presented to the Congress, if indeed we had a draft and members of Congress and the administration thought that their kids from their communities would be placed in harm's way," Rangel said.

  3. Do you support reinstating the draft?

  4. Whatever.

Didn't work with Vietnam did it?

  5. A draft for service to America, or a draft to prepare an army?

I can see the benefit of drafting young Americans to work on improving situations within our own borders...

  6. The draft, and resistance to it led to the end of the war in Vietnam...

  7. please tell me you didn't write this? i guess you think the communist manifesto is groovey?

  8. Community service is communism?

    ROTFLMAO...

  9. rangel has been harping about this a few years. this is just a backdoor way to have liberals/socialist initiate the draft under the pretense of equal service by all. no more "senator's sons" getting out of service because they won the lottery in life. LOL LOL LOL and ZZZzzzzzz just eats this chit up. i forgot how stupid the libby libs could be i have been attacking the neocons for so long.
