Detroitâ A Macomb County inmate is suing Gov. Rick Snyder and the state, claiming he is being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment because jail rules ban pornographic materials. Kyle Richards, 21, of Fraser filed the five-page handwritten (with wobbly handwriting, yuk yuk, he's a chronic masterbater) lawsuit June 10 in U.S. District Court in Detroit. He wants a judge to let inmates possess erotic/pornographic materials along with personal televisions, video game consoles and radios. That is quite funny, I feel the same way. As I "suffer" from OCD, I try to avoid such things. It is an example of service, though.. The first self-checkout store opened in Norway a couple of weeks ago. Not surprisingly, most of the chains said they were not thinking about implementing it. Norway usually adopts technology quite fast, but our supermarkets and grocery stores are a disgrace. We have four chains controlling 99% of the market. The selection is the poorest in all of Europe, and the prices are the highest. It is one of the primary reasons I despise living here... Oh, how I dream of self-checkout... Thankfully, we have a couple of "upscale" stores in Oslo where you can get some decent products and service. Otherwise I would probably starve to death... http://theforeigner.no/pages/news/norwegian-supermarkets-overpriced-and-under-stocked/
On a separate note, it is July 5th, 64 degrees and overclouded... Maybe, just maybe, we can get a few weeks of summer before autumn kicks in...
Went to the gun range over the 4th and had these thoughts: Why is everyone so nice to each other at the range? Does anyone know of a robbery of a range? If so, how did it work out? Anyone who thinks the ladies don't shoot well, needs to watch them in action. Seneca
Lornz...I'm beginning to think that Norway ain't such a good place to live. Are your taxes high there? Do you guys have a yearly complicated filing system like here in the U.S.?
Well, to be fair. It is probably the best country to be on welfare or unemployment. We have "free" healthcare.... The average tax rate is 38%. You pay an additional 9% for the amount exceeding $80 000, and 12% over $120 000. We have a 25% sales tax, 12.5% for food. A pint costs $10 (at a minimum). The state has a monopoly on liquor sales, thus a bottle (liter) of vodka goes for about $60. A 20-pack of cigarettes is about $14. A liter of gas is $2.5. When are you moving here? I will arrange a welcoming committee...
But paying taxes is easy, that should be added. If you only have a regular income, you do not need to do anything. You get a transcript of your income and taxes paid. And if they match your records, you need not do anything. If you have to make changes, you can log in online... It quickly gets more complicated if you run a business and have a lot of write-offs etc.. The capital gains tax is a flat 28%, btw... And you can deduct expenses. But dividends are also taxed at 28%...
