Raised fees will kill the YM

  1. Big AAPL

    Big AAPL

OK, so aside from some additional fees imposed by some brokers, what does this migration mean to the average YM daytrader?

  2. As a Tradestation user, I got this email today. Which sucks ass.

But I wonder if since YM is going to Globex if the CBOT fees won't matter at all? I wonder if the current CME fees will also then include the YM?

    Dear [my name],

Please be aware of the following important changes that may affect the data that you receive in TradeStation. The changes are listed below, and are organized by
    exchange:

    CBOT
Real-time data for the CBOT mini-sized futures and for the CBOT full-sized Gold and Silver futures is currently provided to all users at no charge. Starting on 1/1/2008, the CBOT will be eliminating these market data packages altogether.
Therefore, if you are interested in continuing to receive real-time data for any of the CBOT mini-sized futures or for the CBOT full-sized Gold and Silver futures, you will need to go to [TS link] in order to subscribe to the full CBOT market data package.

The CBOT will be increasing the monthly cost of real-time data for its full market data package from $50 to $55. If you are subscribed to real-time data for the full CBOT market data package, this price change will be automatically reflected in your monthly statement. This price change goes into effect on 1/1/2008.

Delayed CBOT data is currently provided to all users at no charge. Starting on 1/1/2008, delayed CBOT data will only be provided to users that subscribe to the delayed CBOT market data package. The cost to subscribe to the delayed CBOT market data package is $1 per month. If you are not subscribed to the real-time data package for CBOT, starting on January 1, 2008, you will not be able to receive any data whatsoever, such as charts, quotes, etc., for CBOT markets unless you take action to subscribe to either real-time or delayed data. If you are not currently subscribed to real-time data for the full CBOT market data package and you would like to continue to receive delayed CBOT data after 1/1/2008, you will need to go to [TS link] in order to subscribe to the delayed CBOT market data package.

    CME
The CME will be increasing the monthly cost of its full market data package from $50 to $55. Additionally, the CME will be increasing the monthly cost of its Globex Only market data package from $35 to $40. There are no price increases scheduled at this time for the CME e-mini market data package. If you are subscribed to either the CME full or Globex Only market data package, the price change will be automatically reflected in your monthly statement. These price changes go into effect on 1/1/2008.

    COMEX
Delayed COMEX data is currently provided to all users at no charge. Starting on 1/1/2008, delayed COMEX data will only be provided to users that subscribe to the delayed COMEX market data package. The cost to subscribe to the delayed COMEX market data package is $1 per month. If you are not subscribed to the real-time data package for COMEX, starting on January 1, 2008, you will not be able to receive any data whatsoever, such as charts, quotes, etc., for COMEX markets unless you take action to subscribe to either real-time or delayed data. If you are not currently subscribed to any real-time COMEX data package and you would like to continue to receive delayed COMEX data after 1/1/2008, you will need to go to [TS link] in order to subscribe to the delayed COMEX market data package.

    Eurex / Deutsche Börse
Starting on 1/1/2008, any user that is subscribed to real-time data for the Eurex and/or Deutsche Börse Index market data packages will see a slight price increase.
This price increase is occurring as a result of the weakening of the US Dollar relative to the Euro, and will automatically be reflected in your monthly statement. The specific monthly pricing changes are as follows:

    Package Non-Professional Fee Professional Fee
Deutsche Börse Indices increase from $2 to $3 increase from $6 to $7
Eurex Level I increase from $12 to $14 increase from $36 to $44
Eurex Level II increase from $6 to $7 increase from $16 to $20

    KCBOT
The Kansas City Board of Trade (KCBOT) will be increasing the cost of its monthly data package from $15 to $20. If you are subscribed to the KCBOT market data package, this price change will be automatically reflected in your monthly statement. This price change goes into effect on 1/1/2008.

    NYMEX
Delayed NYMEX data is currently provided to all users at no charge. Starting on 1/1/2008, delayed NYMEX data will only be provided to users that subscribe to the delayed NYMEX market data package. The cost to subscribe to the delayed NYMEX market data package is $1 per month. If you are not subscribed to a real-time data package for NYMEX, starting on January 1, 2008, you will not be able to receive any data whatsoever, such as charts, quotes, etc., for NYMEX markets unless you take action to subscribe to either real-time or delayed data. If you are not currently subscribed to any real-time NYMEX data package and you would like to continue to receive delayed NYMEX data after 1/1/2008, you will need to go to [TS link] in order to subscribe to the delayed NYMEX market data package. IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY SUBSCRIBED TO THE NYMEX E-MINY MARKET DATA PACKAGE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION. WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENSURE THAT YOU ARE SUBSCRIBED TO BOTH THE REAL-TIME NYMEX E-MINY MARKET DATA PACKAGE AND THE DELAYED NYMEX MARKET DATA PACKAGE. AS A RESULT, YOUR MONTHLY COST FOR NYMEX DATA WILL INCREASE FOM $25 TO $26 AND THIS PRICE CHANGE WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REFLECTED IN YOUR MONTHLY STATEMENT.

    Sincerely Yours,

    The TradeStation Team

There are users always think merger is good just because the origional company/organization sucks. What they don't know is new company/organization sucks even more.

And history told us again & again, customers always lose. Since you have no choice.

Monoply is never a good thing.

    It just plain sucks.

I'm going to take this opportunity to plug my new favorite data feed from TransAct. I ditched Esignal and no longer pay a single cent for any kind of futures data or bullshit exchange fees. The broker interface is also the datafeed and it's rock solid, including FOMC days. If you're sick of the monopoly pricing from exchanges and data feed suppliers you owe yourself a look into the brokers that offer this platform (and of course the charting sw that supports it, like Ensignsoftware).

Not affiliated with any of these, just a very happy user.
