Shouldnt a good businessman be expanding in the bad times in anticipation of the good times?

  2. And yet, the Chamber of Commerce and the NFIB (two of the country's largest small business organizations) were EXCLUDED from the "jobs summit".

Figure THAT one out, gang...

    And look who's invited:

    United Steel Workers president

    Teachers Union president

    Anna Burger, SEIU

    Big Obama donors

It's nothing more than a F'n union and government jobs carnival.

Sure, it they anticipate better times ahead to begin with.

It's hard for me to imagine anyone anticipating better times ahead right now.

Anticipating higher and ever changing taxes isn't the same thing as "better" times.

  5. Normally a business won't hire additional workers until there is demand for the business's product/service.

In a case like we have today and our potential for recovery... When business looks like it's starting to pick up, business will...

    1. Work present workers harder and longer until the business feels confident of recovery and expansion

    2. Business likely to add "temps" for a while and see if business continues to pick up. If so, more employees will be added.

We must remember that it has become EXPENSIVE for business to add employees in most cases... to comply with government requirements... so employers are not in a great hurry to take the plunge until they feel justified. And with the pending Obamacare/Tyranny bill in the works, hiring will be even more expensive if the legislation is passed.

One exception to that is expanding into "pristine territory".... like when mobile phones moved into China.
