After living on this earth for 43 years, I have only been able to identify two races of people. And those "races" are called the decent and the indecent. And those two races permeate every single ethnic group on the planet. Just because a man has black skin doesn't make him indecent, and a man whose skin is white as snow can certainly be indecent with a heart full of evil. So "races" as I define them, are not groups that one is born into. Every person must earn his way into either the decent race or the indecent race through his interactions with the rest of humanity. Having worked in Canada for many years, I will agree with you that most urban cities in Canada are very diverse. Canada has attracted people from around the world (India, China, etc.) to reside and work in Canada. However I will have to disagree with you that "some of the discussions here wouldn't last long in Canada". All one has to do is go to one of the more active discussion forums in Canada (e.g. urbantoronto.ca) to see the n word and many other negative racial terms used hundreds of times in discussions about race. Yes, of course, Canada has the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) that any citizen can lodge a complaint with if they believe they have been discriminated against in any way. Naturally this commission has a record of only pursuing complaints filed by minorities and Muslims. The Commission has also been regularly criticized over its investigations of alleged hate speech as well as its procedures regarding admissibility of evidence. It appears the CHRC believes that minorities & Muslims can say anything about others and it is free speech but if anyone says anything about minorities & Muslims then they are violating the law & need to be locked up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Human_Rights_Commission_free_speech_controversy Naturally, Canada is the land of "microaggression" complaints for the slightest perceived offense at a University. Sadly by university rules, whites can not be victims of microaggression - only minorities. Sadly, Jews are suffering significant oppression in Canada. Jews are regularly being attacked by Muslim "protestors". Muslims are regularly allowed to verbally chant "Death to the Jews" at universities, and Jews are not allowed to speak publicly in their own defense on university property. Under pressure by Muslim factions tied to extremists, most Canadian Universities have eliminated all ties with Israeli Universities. Canadian Universities have also directly donated money and support to extremist groups such as Hamas. Nearly all the Jewish centres at Canadian universities have been closed due to a long string of arson attacks from 2009 to 2014. And what do we hear from the CHRC about all of this? Not a word.
The United States of America elected a person of color to it's highest office in the land - President. And it took a significant white vote to do it. When will Canada or a major European country elect a person of color to it's highest office - especially when the voting majority is white ? Almost 30 years ago, the United States executive and legislative branch ( significantly white and male back then ) approved a person of color to be Chairman and highest military ranking officer of the largest and most powerful military force ever seen on this earth. Twenty years ago, persons of color were Secretaries of State and Chief White House National Security Adviser as I recall. Again, could Canada or a major European country with a majority white population say that ? I see more diversity and more opportunity for females and persons of color in the United States than ever. I see more mixed race marriages in the United States than ever. I see persons of color idolized in popular culture like never before in the United States. Personally, I believe that a person of color with a decent education and who conducts him or herself with dignity and respect towards others has more opportunity in the United States at this moment in time than in any other place in the world. The world is your oyster in the good 'ole USA. YMMV depending on your attitude. The thing about hate and loathing is that it hurts the person holding it the most. Ignorance and stupidity and criminal thuggery knows no race barriers. Never has, never will.
As long as he is ever-vigilant re white supremacists, he may have a chance. Otherwise, he may be dead long before he ever has a chance to take advantages of those opportunities.
